In Frostpunk 2, you need to take care of your population, whether it is providing employment or allocating resources to whatever is important. You also need to make sure that your townsfolk are well fed. Starvation is the second most common problem in the city after freezing.
To ensure a consistent food supply, you need to establish a food source using resources. You can set up a Food District but it is only a temporary fix.
Food Source in Frostpunk 2
Find Fertile Soil near your Generator. Open the resource menu and look for food icons. You can easily identify them by the plant symbols.
You need to form a path to reach the Fertile Soil. Use the frostbreaking button and take the shortest route. You can further expand by using this path to unlock more such areas.
After you unlock an area, place a Food District there using the Construct Districts menu. You can have as many as you want. Keep in mind, you will need more than two Food Districts to feed a large population.
A base Food District requires six adjacent tiles. If you place two next to each other, you will earn a heat bonus.
That’s it! Your city is no longer under the threat of starvation.
How to ensure your city is not starving?
To avoid starvation, keep an eye on the ‘Hunger’ meter. It will indicate where hunger is present.
Make sure you always have plenty of food. You can check your stockpile capacity by hovering over a food icon.
As you expand, you will need to build Food Stockpile Hubs from the Construct Hubs menu.
Food Sources Breakdown
Here’s a list of food sources and how much food they generate:
- Base Food District: +50 Food
- Expanded Food District: +60 Food
- Food Stockpile Hub: +50K stockpile capacity; less workforce requirement in neighboring Food Districts
- Hothouses: increase food production.
- Food Additives Law: increase production efficiency
- Deep Deposits: Almost unlimited amount of food (Look for an infinity symbol next to a food icon)
- Scouts: Discover new food sources in other regions
