With his charismatic and energy-driven personality, the Flame Hashira Rengoku could bring raging flames down on his worst enemies.
While the Kimetsu No Yaiba’s manga reached its end, the anime has yet to conclude, as a considerable chunk of its storyline has yet to be adapted.
With the upcoming release, i.e., the Mugen Train arc, we will see a lot more of the characters, especially the Flame Hashira Rengoku.
Rengoku was one of the Hashiras who adamantly demanded Nezuko’s death, and while he received a lot of hatred because, let’s be honest, no one can threaten Nezuko and get away with it, the movie will manage to completely change the fans feelings.
His strong personality and strength shone through far more than the other Hashiras in the Mugen Train arc, which has led many fans to wonder about Rengoku’s strength and how it fares against other Hashiras and demons.
[SPOILERS FROM THE MANGA]
1. How Strong Is the Flame Hashira Rengoku?
Kyojuro Rengoku was the Flame Hashira, which made him one of the nine most powerful demon slayers.
He unlearned everything his father taught him and reached his current level by merely reading through the Flames Breathing style’s instruction book consisting of only three volumes.
As expected of a Hashira, Rengoku was an extremely powerful swordsman.
His volatile personality and strength made it so that his battle spirit came close to the “domain of supremacy,” i.e., the transparent world, and even demons as strong as Akaza had trouble facing him.
Despite being heavily injured, Rengoku was able to execute flawless sword attacks with unfathomable speed.
In fact, during their fight in the Mugen Train, the upper rank three demon was so impressed by Rengoku’s strength and swordsmanship that he offered him immortality in exchange for his humanity.
However, Rengoku declined such a tempting offer, which showed his tremendous will power and morals.
Rengoku was a powerful Hashira who saved hundreds and thousands of innocents in his lifetime and made an everlasting impression on both his friends and enemies.
2. Is Rengoku the Strongest Hashira?
Rengoku’s power and swordsmanship were explosive, volatile, yet had a certain fluidity that made his attacks all connect together.
Even his enemies were in awe of his strength and could not help but respect him. He definitely earned his title as a Hashira and set an excellent example for other demon slayers.
Rengoku is not the strongest Hashira despite possessing a respectable amount of strength that surpasses many even within the nine. The one who deserves that title is the Stone Hashira, Gyomei Himejima.
3. Can Rengoku Defeat Akaza?
Rengoku’s fight against Akaza was brilliant and showed us how different the Hashiras strength was from other demon slayers. Despite the demon being an upper rank 3, Rengoku could fight him evenly and match his speed and power.
However, that was not enough. No matter how much damage Akaza sustained, he could regenerate in the blink of an eye, whereas Rengoku went on accumulating injuries. It is because of this that the Hashira suffered a defeat and died.
However, Tanjirou seemed to think otherwise. Akaza ran away in the end (due to the sunrise), while Rengoku at least never behaved cowardly and gave it his all. It’s true, in our tear-filled eyes, Rengoku emerged as the victor.
Nevertheless, despite the result, fans wonder if Rengoku would have won under a different scenario, such as having no one to protect on the train.
Rengoku cannot defeat Akaza under any circumstances because of the latter’s regeneration.
No matter how much damage the Hashira causes to the demon, due to their similar power levels, it won’t be enough to stop his regeneration.
4. Does Rengoku Train Tanjiro?
When Rengoku first met Tanjiro, he strongly disliked him due to breaking the demon slayer code and protecting a demon.
However, after meeting and spending time with him on the Mugen train, Rengoku started respecting Tanjiro, and even offered to make him his Tsuguko (successor).
The Flame Hashira, Rengoku, never trained Tanjiro officially but often gave him advice on becoming stronger.
He even offered to make the latter his successor; however, he never got a chance to do so due to his untimely death. In the end, Rengoku entrusted his will to Tanjiro and passed away.
5. About Demon Slayer
