So, Yuno just got his second magic, that is, his original magic from the Spade Kingdom after receiving its grimoire. And I was right, Yuno’s new magical attribute is Star magic!
I know a lot of people were expecting Asta to get some kind of astral magic what with all the star imagery, but Yuno is Black Clover’s starboy now, and the magic looks pretty badass from what I saw in the latest manga chapter.
How strong is Yuno compared to Asta?
With one Spade and one four-leaf Clover grimoire, Yuno possesses Star magic which is his true magic affinity, and Wind magic due to the reincarnated spirit of Licht’s son. He is blessed with mana and also has the Wind spirit Sylph by his side. This makes him as strong as Asta.
Yuno’s father, Loyce, had Sun magic, and his mother, Ciel, had Moon magic. Star magic seems like an arcane stage magic, although we’re yet to see what exactly it is capable of.
In chapter 309, we’ve seen Yuno use Star magic for one defensive and one offensive spell each, along with using it to teleport and escape Zenon’s Spatial magic. He is already faster than Asta what with his teleportation ability – he uses it with the help of the Star Magic: Conjunction spell. But he tells Bell that his Star magic might not be enough to defeat Zenon.
If Yuno manages to combine Star and Wind magic he’d most definitely become OP. He wouldn’t even require another user to perform a Union/Compound magic, since he is already two souls in one body.
Will Yuno get a transformation like Asta’s Devil Union?
Yuno might get an upgrade similar to Asta’s Devil Union with Liebe. We might expect Star armor, which will be the equivalent of Asta’s Union Mode armor. The most likely power-up is Saint Stage and Mana Zone Star magic.
It’s also a possibility that Sylph gets an upgrade or power-up – to some kind of angel form, which would make for great symbolism, what with Asta as the Devil with anti-magic, and Yuno as the Angel with celestial magic.
Either way, I can’t wait to see some Stellar Wind spells from Yuno; imagine if he can create supernovas or blackholes? We need to see some Arcane Stage magic for sure if Yuno has any hope of defeating the Dark Triad’s most powerful member.
If he unlocks and can control Saint Stage with Sylph/Bell, in conjunction with his newly acquired Star magic, he can definitely go for Beezlebub’s heart, and crush Zenon.
What is Yuno’s destiny?
I believe Yuno will neither become the Wizard King of Clover nor the King of the Spade Kingdom. He might become the captain of Golden Dawn, but I think in the end, Yuno’s destiny is to unite all four kingdoms.
A neat way to wrap up the series in a way that everyone is happy, would be to have Asta as Wizard King and Yuno as King of the Spade Kingdom. But the Wizard King position is based on merit, not bloodline, so it is still possible that Yuno fights Asta for it. If the four kingdoms themselves are dissolved though, the Wizard King might become altogether redundant. Asta, in my opinion, will become the King of the Underworld. Asta’s back story hasn’t even been revealed yet, so it could honestly go anywhere from here.
But we do know this: Yuno and Asta’s destinies will definitely be intertwined one way or the other. Guess we’ll just have to wait and watch what Tabata has in store for us.
