Days Gone is an underrated open-world zombie game that didn’t gain much recognition when it was initially released but as years passed, players realized that the game was everything but terrible. The game was developed by Sony Bend Studio and was released in 2019.
The formula for Days Gone isn’t much different from other PlayStation-exclusive games as the game has a campaign accompanied by side missions and collectibles hidden throughout the whole map. The completion time can vary from player to player depending on certain factors.
The campaign in Days Gone can be beaten in around 30-60 hours. If you just rush through the story without playing any side activities, then you can beat the game in around 30-40 hours. Completing all side quests should take about 50 hours and 100% completing the game should take around 60 hours.
The difficulty of the game should also be taken into consideration when talking about completion time. The higher the difficulty, the longer it’s gonna take you to complete the game.
1. Difficulty Levels
There are six difficulty levels in Days Gone which are:
- Easy
- Normal
- Hard
- Hard II
- Survival
- Survival II
The difficulty always affects playtime as playing on a harder difficulty will take you longer to finish a game. If you opt for the most challenging difficulty, then expect your playthrough to last much longer. But if you’ve completed the game once on an easier difficulty, then playing on a harder difficulty won’t make much of a difference for you as you know all the mechanics.
2. Does Days Gone have multiple endings?
There are indeed multiple endings in Days Gone, four to be exact and one of them is a secret ending that you’ll unlock after beating everything in the game. To get the other endings, you’ll need to come out on top of a specific storyline mission. Here are all the endings in Days Gone:
I. Normal Endings
i. Deacon and Sarah Ending
You can unlock this ending by completing the “For an Outlaw” story mission. The ending will show Deacon saving Sarah from Wizard’s Island.
ii. Iron Mike Ending
To unlock this ending, you’ll need to complete the story mission “For the Benefit of Others”. This ending will show Deacon, Addison, and Riki visiting Iron Mike’s Tomb.
iii. Lisa Ending
To unlock this ending, you’ll need to complete the “I’m Not a Ripper” story mission. This ending will show Deacon saving Lisa and letting her enter the camp.
3. The Secret Ending
In order to unlock the Secret Ending, you’ll need to complete everything there is in Days Gone. It means completing all Ambush Camps, clearing all Freaker Hordes, etc. After you finish the final battle and after the credits roll, you’ll be back in the game in order to finish anything that’s left.
Keep doing side missions and obtaining any collectible that you haven’t collected yet until the NERO scientist O’Brian calls you for a meet-up. After his call, a new mission called “There’s Nothing You Can Do” will begin at the Old Pioneer Cemetery.
After this, you’ll be able to get the secret ending although the secret ending does not set up a potential Days Gone sequel sadly. You’ll obtain the recipe for a secret weapon as a reward and you’ll also receive a Finding NERO design as a skin for your bike.
4. Will there be a Days Gone 2?
Sadly, Sony still hasn’t greenlit Days Gone 2 and neither have they said anything about a potential sequel. A Change.Org petition for a sequel also launched in 2021, which now has almost 190,000 signatures so it’s safe to say that a lot of fans still want a sequel.
When the game was initially released in 2019, it was met with various criticisms about various aspects of the game which ultimately decreased the love for the game and the chance for a potential sequel. But as players are revisiting it, they can’t help but think what a sequel to the game would’ve looked like. Days Gone 2 could arrive in a few years, but for now, there’s no confirmation.

Days Gone is a 2019 action-adventure video game developed by Bend Studio and published by Sony Interactive Entertainment for the PlayStation 4. A Microsoft Windows port was released in May 2021.
The game is set in post-apocalyptic Oregon two years after the start of a pandemic that turned a portion of humanity into vicious zombie-like creatures. Former outlaw-turned-drifter Deacon St. John discovers his wife Sarah, having been assumed dead, may still be alive and goes on a quest to find her. Days Gone is played from a third-person perspective in which the player can explore an open world environment and use firearms, melee weapons and stealth to defend themselves.
