Assassin’s Creed: Odyssey is just as huge as Assassin’s Creed: Valhalla, if not bigger. The game has one of the biggest and best maps in the franchise, brimming with things to do. Exploring the entire map and discovering all the secrets can take a long amount of time.
Since the game is an open-world RPG, there are a lot of things to do other than just playing the main story, and play times differ from person to person so it all depends on how you want to approach the game. You can either take your time and play through the game which is recommended or rush through it.
Finishing just the main story of Assassin’s Creed: Odyssey will take you around 44 hours. Completing the side quests and the main story will take you around 80 hours while a completionist run of the game will take you more than 100 hours to complete.
Your playtime can differ depending on what difficulty you’re playing the game to as a harder difficulty will result in you taking more time to progress through the game while an easier difficulty will result in just the opposite.
1. Difficulty
Before starting your journey and after the prologue in Assassin’s Creed: Odyssey, the game will offer you four difficulty options which are:
- Easy
- Normal
- Hard
- Nightmare
The game also has two options for gameplay modes which are:
- Guided Mode
- Exploration Mode
You can choose any of the options best suited to how you want to approach the game. If you want to complete the game quickly but without rushing and also focus on the story without worrying too much about the action, we suggest starting the game on the Normal difficulty and choosing Guided Mode.
2. How long are the DLCs?
Ubisoft released three expansions for Assassin’s Creed: Odyssey and here are the playtimes for all of the expansions:
I. The Lost Tales of Greece: This expansion has its own set of quests and it takes around 8-10 hours to complete.
II. Legacy of The First Blade: In this expansion, players will learn about the history of the Hidden Blade and who first wielded it. The main story of this expansion takes around 6 hours to complete while a completionist run of this expansion will take around 10-12 hours.
III. The Fate of Atlantis: This expansion is about the sunken underwater city of Atlantis. Completing the story will take around 14 hours but this expansion comes with a new map with more side stuff to do so a completionist run will require around 25-30 hours.
3. Is Assassin’s Creed: Odyssey hard?
Assassin’s Creed: Odyssey can be a hard game but the harder difficulties also provide minor advantages to gameplay. They don’t provide any extra rewards but they might provide increased XP to players. If you get used to the game’s combat system, the game shouldn’t be very hard after a few hours.
The highest difficulty also lets players defeat enemies with just one hit. While it might provide these minor advantages, it’s always advised to play the game at a lower difficulty so you get used to the game’s mechanics and then replay the game again at a higher difficulty.
4. How many endings does Assassin’s Creed: Odyssey have?
Assassin’s Creed: Odyssey has nine possible endings and the ending you get depends on how many family members you can save during the course of the main campaign. Here are the nine endings you’ll get depending on who you save:
1. Living Family Members: Only you
2. Living Family Members: Nikolaos and you
3. Living Family Members: Nikolaos, Stentor, and you
4. Living Family Members: Myrinne and you
5. Living Family Members: Myrrine, Nikolaos, and you
6. Living Family Members: Nyrrine, Nikolaos, Stentor, and you
7. Living Family Members: Myrrine, Deimos, and then you
8. Living Family Members: Myrrine, Nikolaos, Deimos, and you
9. Living Family Members: Nikolaos, Myrrine, Deimos, Stentor, and the player
These are all the 9 endings you’ll get depending on who you save and you’ll get the best ending if you manage to save everyone throughout the course of the campaign.
5. 100% Completion
Doing a completionist run of the game means not only just obtaining all the trophies but completing everything that the game has to offer. Here’s all you need to do in order to 100% complete Assassin’s Creed: Odyssey:
- Obtain all Trophies
- Complete all Main Quests
- Complete all Side Quests
- Eradicate the Cult of Kosmos
- Find all Mythical Creatures
- Slay all Legendary Beasts
6. Is Assassin’s Creed: Valhalla longer than Odyssey?
Assassin’s Creed: Valhalla is much bigger than Odyssey. Assassin’s Creed: Origins started the tradition of the next game of the franchise being much bigger than its predecessor and the case isn’t any different with Valhalla and Odyssey.
Assassin’s Creed: Valhalla’s story clocks in at a whopping 60 hours while Odyssey’s story clocks in at 44 hours, which is almost 15 hours behind. It’s not only bigger in length but has a bigger map and the scale of the game is overall bigger than Odyssey.

9. About Assassin’s Creed Odyssey
Assassin’s Creed Odyssey is an action role-playing video game developed by Ubisoft Quebec and published by Ubisoft. It is the eleventh major installment in the Assassin’s Creed series and the successor to 2017’s Assassin’s Creed Origins.
It was released for PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch (Japan only) on October 5, 2018, with a Stadia version launching alongside the service in 2019. Like its predecessor, the game features a large open world, and adopts elements from the role-playing genre, putting more emphasis on combat and exploration than stealth.
