Season 2 of OMITB introduces us to some new characters. Besides the tenants of the Arconia, characters such as Amy Schumer, Alice, and Nina Lin are also suspects. But, there’s one more important character – Rose Cooper.
She hasn’t appeared in the show but could be connected to Bunny’s murder. So, who exactly is Rose Cooper? How is she related to Bunny, and what makes her so important?
Rose Cooper is the artist behind the painting in Bunny’s apartment. The picture belonged to Leonora (Bunny’s mother) and depicted Charles’ father, who had an affair with Rose and Leonora. Interestingly, the painting has been missing since Bunny’s murder.
The missing painting has been a key focus in season 2. After Bunny’s death, several people have shown an interest in it. First, we saw Howard and Uma Heller entering Bunny’s apartment to see the painting. Then Leonora came to Bunny’s funeral to retrieve the same. Amy Schumer, who plays herself, was keen on having it in her apartment.
Here’s a quick recap for those who don’t remember. Someone plants the missing painting in Charles’ apartment. In a state of panic, he dumps it into a garbage container outside the Arconia.
Later, Oliver sees the same piece hanging in Amy Schumer’s apartment. She tells him that she found it in the dumpster and thought it would make a good decorative piece. Leonora, who all this while has been looking for the painting, enters Amy’s apartment at this moment. She looks at the painting, examines it, and calls it a fake.
Here’s another interesting piece of information. Since Charles’ father had an affair with Rose and Leonora, there’s a chance that Bunny and he might be half-siblings. We don’t know how this detail would affect the murder investigation yet.
Now, where exactly is the real painting? We don’t have the answer yet. But, Charles, Mabel, and Oliver believe that whoever killed Bunny is after the real painting.
If the three are correct, Leonora becomes their investigation’s prime suspect. However, it is practically impossible for her to murder anyone due to her old age. But what if she had a partner in crime?
This could be someone like Alice. She had already had a conversation with Mabel about Rose Cooper and her painting. There’s no connection between Alice and Leonora. If there is one, the show hasn’t confirmed it yet.
Overall, the investigation seems to be going nowhere, and the three podcasters don’t have any leads. 4 episodes are remaining, and hopefully, the pieces of this puzzle will start falling into place from episode 5 or 6.
