Friendship comes first – that’s the lesson we should take from the latest episode of How I Met Your Father. In an episode where could-be-boyfriends and soon-to-be-ex-girlfriends drive a wedge between your friendship, Sophie & Val and Sid & Jesse come out on top with an unbreakable bond of loyalty and love that only best friends share.
Never mind the fact that Sid almost met his death and Sophie could have possibly met the father of her son; this episode was all about friendship! I don’t want to hear about Meredith being a capital B; I’d much rather talk about Charlie and his naive plan about bringing Sid & Jesse back together.
But I know that you’d rather talk about what’s coming in the next week’s episode. So, let’s just get to that before I start singing “I’ll Be There For You.” Wait, wrong show.
1. Episode 6 Synopsis/Speculation
Sophie encounters an obstacle with a new beau. Ellen uses her job insurance to see a therapist. Jesse gives Valentina a hand at work while Sid and Charlie try to sell terrible wine.
Sophie was in quite a vulnerable place after ending things with Drew, Jesse, and Ian in a matter of two days. But when Oscar enters her life, she thinks she might be ready to start dating again. But according to the synopsis, she might not since she’ll face some trouble when it comes to hitting it up with her new catch. We’ll just have to wait and see what’s the “obstacle” between the two new lovers.
Valentina’s love life hasn’t been a joyride since her breakup with Charlie, but it seems like her job isn’t going as great either. She recruits Jesse’s help for something, the same man who just dumped his opportunist girlfriend and is probably not in a good headspace – that’ll surely be an entertaining situation.
Ellen has addressed her abandonment and avoidance issues several times in the show, and she’s using the benefits that come with her new job to see a therapist. Are we looking at a new regular guest star, or will the new doctor not be up to the mark?

5. Episode 5 Recap
Sophie and Valentina are invited to Val’s parents’ house, and even though Val doesn’t want to visit since all her folks try to do is set her up with their version of Mr. Right, Sophie does, and so they do. They don’t believe Charlie is real and introduce Oscar as Sophie’s potential date.
Cross with her parents and Sophie, Valentina tries to take Oscar from Sophie, which hurts her, but they soon understand what’s really going on. They stage a fight for Valentina’s parents, and the couple apologizes, and Oscar asks Sophie on a date.
Meanwhile, Meredith is exposing every bit of her and Jesse’s reunion to promote her new single, even the viral rejection clip highlighting Jesse’s lowest point. Jesse asks her to take it out of the video, but she declines. Jesse sees Sid was right, breaks up with Meredith, and calls Sid, but he arrives at the concert.
It turns out Charlie had devised a plan to get the two best friends to make up and sent cookies to Sid in Jesse’s name. But when Sid’s allergy acts up, and an EMT saves him, the near-death experience helps him realize he wants to make up with Jesse. The two apologize to each other, and all is fine between the two roomies once again.

How I Met Your Father (HIMYF) is a spinoff series of the incredibly successful CBS show, How I Met Your Mother. The original show ran for nine seasons, from 2005 to 2014, quickly making its mark with a dedicated cult-like fanbase.
HIMYF was announced to start production in April 2021 with the Lizzy McGuire star Hilary Duff playing the lead called Sophie, narrating her journey to her children in the future.
The show’s flashbacks will start from Sophie and her close friends navigating love, life and struggles in the modern era of dating, paying bills and more, in 2021.
Created by writers Isaac Aptaker and Elizabeth Berger of This Is Us fame and directed by the original show’s director, Pamela Fryman, the first season of HIMYF is revealed to have 10 episodes. No further details have yet been released.
