We all have a habit of telling little white lies when feeling insecure or nervous, so don’t be too hard on Sophie when she confesses to Meghan Trainor about not knowing a thing about home births.
Sophie’s compulsive lying aside, this week’s episode of How I Met Your Father delved deep into Meredith and Sid’s troubled friendship and even gave us a sneak peek of the budding romance between Ellen and Rachel. So, what can we expect from episode 3?
1. Episode 3 Synopsis/Speculation
After selling her portrait, Sophie recruits Jesse to help impress the buyers. Val and Ellen go on a double date and Charlie forces a reluctant Sid and Hannah into a double date.
We’re definitely rooting for Ellen and Rachel, but do you know who else we think is in endgame? Jesse and Sophie! Sid’s comment about Meredith eventually breaking Jesse’s heart again sounds much more believable than her claiming she’s a changed person.
Sophie and Jesse may even have a chance to steer clear of the awkward conversations and rekindle their spark in next week’s episode! But who are we kidding? With Sophie’s luck, they’re bound to come closer before messing things up again like that one time when Sophie found Jesse kissing his ex-right after confessing his love for her.
But who knows? The next episode is titled “Reset Button,” so maybe they’ll do what they set out to do – get Sophie more buyers and mend their friendship.
Speaking of resets, will Valentina and Charlie rekindle their obvious chemistry on a double date with Ellen and Rachel, or will they shrink away and pass this opportunity to Sid and Hannah?
We might be wrong here, but we think Sid and Hannah need to understand that one of them will have to make a sacrifice for a happy marriage.
Episode 3 has a tall order for fixing things between our main characters, and Meredith’s entry into the mix is bound to make it more interesting. But when is episode 3 coming out?

5. Episode 2 Recap
As we see a stressed Sophie lying to Meredith and others about selling her photographs because she felt insecure, Future Sophie confesses to her son that she used to be a compulsive liar.
Sid is cold towards Meredith and Jesse sits them down and asks Sid to go through every problem he has with Meredith, one of which is the “Burrito Incident.” Although Sid plays it off as a minor issue when Meredith ate one of his burritos even when he’d asked no one to touch them, there seems to be a bigger concern.
Meredith had used the burrito as an excuse to fake illness and skip one of Jesse’s recitals, and Sid calls her out, saying she’ll just break Jesse’s heart again.
Ellen is distraught that Rachel hasn’t contacted her and, after some indirect maneuvers to get her to notice the mistake, she directly confronts her about it. While Ellen and Rachel set a date after sharing their social anxiety, Sophie and Val deal with, yet another mess borne out of Sophie’s lies.
Ramona goes into labor and asks Sophie to oversee her home birth, but it only gets messier by the second. Eventually, in classic Sophie style, the episode wraps up with Ramona’s baby safely delivered and Sophie actually getting a real buyer and coming clean about her lie to the gang.
6. About How I Met Your Father
How I Met Your Father (HIMYF) is a spinoff series of the incredibly successful CBS show, How I Met Your Mother. The original show ran for nine seasons, from 2005 to 2014, quickly making its mark with a dedicated cult-like fanbase.
HIMYF was announced to start production in April 2021 with the Lizzy McGuire star Hilary Duff playing the lead called Sophie, narrating her journey to her children in the future.
The show’s flashbacks will start from Sophie and her close friends navigating love, life and struggles in the modern era of dating, paying bills and more, in 2021.
Created by writers Isaac Aptaker and Elizabeth Berger of This Is Us fame and directed by the original show’s director, Pamela Fryman, the first season of HIMYF is revealed to have 10 episodes. No further details have yet been released.
