Valentina almost lost her job after her promotion in this episode, but her quick wit saved her from the Daphne Dupree Debacle. Sophie’s embarrassing situation soon turned for good with her new paramour, and she got herself a new boyfriend.
But Sophie’s timing couldn’t be worse since Jesse just realized that he’s been speed-dating girls like Meredith and Dana because he still isn’t over Sophie. I mean, it was obvious, but it’s okay, Jesse; people can be pretty oblivious to their own emotions. What will happen in the next episode of How I Met your Father?
1. Episode 10 Synopsis/Speculation
Sophie dates an older man, which encourages Jesse, Sid, and Charlie to take better care of themselves. Sophie and Val battle over who gets the apartment for date night.
Next week’s episode will either spell awkwardness or heartbreak for Jesse or both, when he realizes he’s not over Sophie just as she meets a more mature and put-together man.
But the synopsis for the upcoming episode says that he is more concerned about their health and career and decides to do better. Sid & Charlie will join him, but is this just another distraction tactic to not let himself be overwhelmed by disappointment?
Sophie hit it off with Robert at Daphne’s party, but Val was too busy running in crisis mode to hook herself up with a man. But according to next week’s agenda, she too has a date lined up and would have to fight Sophie over keeping their apartment on date night. Am I too naive to believe her mystery date will turn out to be Charlie? Odds are that’s not it, but never say never.
Not to rain on Sophie’s parade, but remember the flash forward in episode 1 of season 2? When Sophie crashes into Barney’s car while freaking out that maybe she’s dating her father? I think we’re going to reach that juncture of the story soon.

5. Episode 9 Recap
Valentina and Sophie attend a high-class party where Val is invited as Broadway star Daphne Dupree’s stylist. But her make-it-or-break-it moment goes awry when two women arrive at the party in the same dress as Daphne. Sophie spills sauce on one and trades clothes with the other, but Daphne still finds out.
While Robert, the mature chef, and Sophie hit it off over foodie-flirting, Valentina’s quick wit finds an angle to turn the travesty into an opportunity. She and Daphne spin a tale of down-to-earth humility, and the event goes off without a hitch.
Meanwhile, Jesse wants the group to meet Dana, a girl with whom he’s been on one date. Sid, Charlie, and Ellen want him to wait it out, but he invokes the Welcome protocol, and the others slip into their duties of storyteller, complimenter, etc. when Dana comes.
But just as the group starts to like her, Jesse decides to end things with her. He makes up an excuse, which coincides with a phone call informing Dana her grandmother was in an accident.
Jesse confesses to Ellen that he’s been speeding up things with Meredith and Dana because he’s still hung up on Sophie. His sister urges him to fess up to the blonde, and that’s where the show will pick off in the next episode.
6. About How I Met Your Father
How I Met Your Father (HIMYF) is a spinoff series of the incredibly successful CBS show, How I Met Your Mother. The original show ran for nine seasons, from 2005 to 2014, quickly making its mark with a dedicated cult-like fanbase.
HIMYF was announced to start production in April 2021 with the Lizzy McGuire star Hilary Duff playing the lead called Sophie, narrating her journey to her children in the future.
The show’s flashbacks will start from Sophie and her close friends navigating love, life and struggles in the modern era of dating, paying bills and more, in 2021.
Created by writers Isaac Aptaker and Elizabeth Berger of This Is Us fame and directed by the original show’s director, Pamela Fryman, the first season of HIMYF is revealed to have 10 episodes. No further details have yet been released.
