See is a gripping tale that deals with the question of what happens if almost all of humanity loses its ability of vision. Thanks to some can-do attitude, most people in See’s universe can function without sight, so much so that the ability to see itself becomes a myth.
But if you’ve gobbled down See’s S1, you know that’s far from true—there are not only those who can see but also those who want to sire a whole army of sighted individuals.
Baba Voss’ adopted and more importantly, sighted daughter, Haniwa, is caught in the middle of all these schemes.
By the S1 finale, she finds herself captured by Edo Voss, who is the Commander General of the Trivantian army, a rival kingdom that has an agenda of its own for the sighted.
The season ends with the cliffhanger—will Baba Voss rescue Haniwa, and how?
In See S2 Ep 2, the lieutenant of the Trivantian army, Wren, aids Baba Voss by freeing him from his prison cell. He then rescues Haniwa from Edo’s chambers and they flee the city together.
If you’d like the full-course spoiler version, here are all the details about how Baba Voss is able to save Haniwa:
Baba Voss’ Unexpected Helper
In See’s S2 premiere itself, we see that Baba Voss has traveled back to rescue Haniwa from the Trivantians. Most of his expedition goes on valiantly, that is, until the end of the episode when he is finally captured in Edo’s fortress.
All this while, Lieutenant Wren has been commanded to watch over Haniwa. But within that short span, she develops feelings for the girl.
This could be because of the important aspect connecting them—they both can see. Wren even takes advantage of this to secretly show Haniwa around the city.
In Ep 2, after four days of being beaten up and “made an example of” in front of the public, Baba Voss is thrown into a prison cell.
Wren doesn’t like it one bit that she has to force Haniwa to watch her father suffer.
What she hates even more is that Edo is planning on sleeping with Haniwa in order to birth more sighted children. (This is not the last you will hear of this icky incestuous scheme!)
So, she frees Baba Voss, who rushes to Edo’s chambers before something ungodly happens. On the way, he’s helped by Tamacti Jun who also finds a way to break out of his prison cell.
Baba and Edo get down and dirty, with fists, punches, and blows—but it is Haniwa who ends up saving everyone as she shoots Edo several times with arrows that she procures. After this, the three (Baba, Haniwa, and Tamacti) flee the city to return to Payan.
Will they make it to Payan safely? Will Edo find out about Wren’s betrayal? Will this be the first and the last time that Wren lends Baba Voss and Haniwa a helping hand?
What about the two girls’ budding romance? I can happily say you won’t be disappointed with the answers when you watch the rest of See S2.
