There are hundreds of ways for you to traverse through the titular open world of Horizon Forbidden West. But, nothing feels more satisfying than to use the Pullcaster Grappling Hook.
Not only do you feel like Batman when you pull yourself to desired places using this tool, but you can also use the Pullcaster to clear paths, defeat enemies, and solve puzzles that you might come across during your playtime.
So, for a tool as highly versatile as this, you might be wondering, “how does one get the Pullcaster in Forbidden West?” Well, I’m here to tell you how.
You can unlock the Pullcaster fairly early in Horizon Forbidden West by completing the mission “Reach For The Stars.” Your task is to look for the Machine Cable and Machine Scrap – once you find them, you’ll be able to craft the Pullcaster and use it as per your needs in the game.
Before we go any further, though, allow me to elaborate and help you understand how to obtain the Pullcaster. Since it’s an easy quest, I’ll list down all that you need to do to complete it – nothing tricky here – it’s pretty straightforward.
1. Follow the main path and head to the ancient ruins that you might spot in the distance.
2. Once you reach the ancient ruins, you need to search the place for a GAIA Backup.
3. You’ll eventually come across your pathway blocked off by a broken machine – it’s now time to craft yourself the Pullcaster.
4. You’ll find a broken Oseram tool – use your scanner to find the parts that can fix it. You can do so with a workbench nearby.
5. Use the tool to remove the rubble from your path and move ahead with the quest.
Since this is more or less the start of the game, I’m not going to spoil it any further for you. Not to mention, the path ahead is actually all about following one marker after the other. So, let’s get back to the Pullcaster – I still want to tell you the ways in which you can use that tool.
Firstly, to use the Pullcaster, you need to head over to objects marked with yellow – they may not always be outright visible, so you need to use your scanner for this.
Once you spot them, use the L2 button to aim and switch over the Pullcaster using the triangle button – once aimed at the object, shoot the tool to latch onto it.
That said, it’s time for me to list down the ways with which you can make use of this grappling tool:
- You can use the Pullcaster to pull objects towards you or out of your path.
- You can use it to pull yourself to large enemies, walls, etc.
- You can combo it with your glider to pull off some sick moves in the game.
But that’s pretty much every function of this supremely versatile tool. So it’s time for you to try it out and test its true potential – good luck with that. Till then, I’ll be here, covering more guides for you, so stay tuned for that.
