How did Big Mom survive? Will she get her memory back? And How?

With the recent attack on Big Mom’s crew, there is little chance of Big Mom and Beast pirates teaming up despite shared goals.

It all, however, still depends on the survival of Big Mom and her first steps into Wano. Is she still alive after the attack? How? Let’s dive deeper into this.

1. Is Big Mom dead or alive?

Charlotte Linlin, or Big Mom, is still alive. Before her ship fell into the sea, Big Mom jumped on the back of the giant Carp to attack King but, unfortunately, slipped and got swallowed by the giant whirlpool.

However, as shown in One Piece Episode 926, Big Mom survived while suffering from temporary memory loss.

2. How did Big Mom survive?

The Big Mom Pirates were about to reach the Land of Wano when they were caught off-guard by Beast Pirates All-Star King the Wildfire, one of Emperor Kaido’s right-hand men.

Though they managed to survive King’s attack, Big Mom was separated from her crew as before their ship fell into the sea, she jumped at the back of the giant Carp to attack King but slipped and got swallowed by the giant whirlpool. In episode 926, however, it was shown that Big Mom managed to survive, but lost her memories. How exactly she survived has not yet been shown.

3. How did she lose her memory?

Thanks to seawater and the dire conditions of the whirlpool, Big Mom lost her memory.

4. Will she get her memory back?

Big Mom regains her memory in chapter 947 of the manga. In Wano, when Big Mom is pursuing Luffy, Queen dives onto her, landing headfirst on her with immense weight. However, Big Mom does not give way from the impact, and the force of the blow causes her to regain her memories and realize what has happened.

Prison Mines

Big Mom, led by Chopper and Tama, finds the o-shiruko container, only to see that it is empty. Luffy inadvertently reveals that he ate it, causing her to attack him and Hyogoro in a fit of rage. Big Mom forces the two of them out of the ring, but in the heat of the moment, Luffy successfully manages to rip off their collars. Hyogoro then decides to have Luffy train to progress his Haki by forcing Luffy to protect him from Big Mom.

Luffy is unable to defend himself and Hyogoro from Big Mom, and she rampages around the Prisoner Mines. Queen develops a plan to attack her when she reaches him, and when she does, he slams into her from above in his brachiosaurus form.

This causes Big Mom to regain her memories, but she immediately falls asleep afterward, and Queen has her chained up before taking her to Onigashima. Babanuki is left in charge, but Luffy decides to battle the remaining Beasts Pirates and take control of Udon.
