How to Obtain the Flame of the Redmanes – Location Guide – Elden Ring

After Elden Ring’s update to version 1.03, various spells, weapons, and skills have been nerfed. For example, the Hoarfrost Stomp skill was once a fan favorite and exceptionally effective against bosses, but now it’s barely adequate.

However, another skill has strengthened in intensity to knock it out from its throne, the Flame of the Redmanes. Like Hoarfrost Stomp, this skill results in a massive arc of elemental fire upon use and can also stagger potent enemies.

In order to equip and use this Elden Ring Ash of War, players need to find the Flames of the Redmanes.

You can get your hands on the Flames of the Redmanes by visiting Fort Gael in the region of Caelid. When you get there, a trail of ice and frost will appear on the ground. Further, a Teardrop Scarab will appear and you’ll have to kill it to get the Flame of the Redmanes.

More accurately, players can find this Ash of War in the western part of Caelid, east of the Site of Grace of Fort Gael. Additionally, the Teardrop Scarab will be invisible, but you’ll be able to see its glowing footprints. You can defeat it by standing in its path, waiting for it to come to you, and attacking it once you can notice its footprint near you.

Here’s more about the Flame of the Redmanes Ash of War and how to find it.

What is a Teardrop Scarab in Elden Ring?

Teardrop Scarab

Teardrop Scarabs are essentially the latest version of Crystal Lizards from FromSoftware’s Dark Souls. Nevertheless, a few vital differences make the Teardrop Scarab highly distinct.

They can run away from you when you enter into their radius, and they can also lead you to enemies if there are any nearby. Furthermore, Teardrop Scarabs can sprint intelligently by changing directions based on your location and the placement of other obstacles and objects.

There are three types of Teardrop Scarabs in Elden Ring, while there was only a single type of Crystal Lizard in Dark Souls. The three types are as follows:

  • Crimson Teardrop Scarab: This Teardrop Scarab is red and serves to replenish your Flask of Crimson Tears when you kill it
  • Cerulean Teardrop Scarab: You can destroy this blue-colored Teardrop Scarab to refill your Flask of Cerulean Tears
  •  Silver Teardrop Scarab: Such a Teardrop Scarab drops handy combat items upon being demolished

Silver Teardrop Scarabs are the most helpful Scarabs because they drop a significant amount of valuable combat items. These items include Ashes of War, enchantments, weapons, and sorceries. Consequently, you’ll be looking for a Silver Teardrop Scarab near Fort Gael.
