House of the Dragon Episode 7 Ending Explained: Rhaenyra & Daemon’s Plan

This week’s episode of the HBO Max series House of the Dragon has thrilled fans and has left them in anticipation of what’s to come. The ending of Episode 7 has established Queen Alicent and her allies while Princess Rhaenyra succeeds to instill Prince Daemon on her side.

Episode 7 ends with many new relations being made and old ones being severed. Daemon and Rhaenyra’s execute a plan to instill themselves as the successors of Westeros and strengthen Rhaenyra’s claim to the throne.

Though their actions cost the Velaryons their son, the last few seconds of Episode 7 had at least one happy ending, that of Ser Laenor Velaryon’s.

In episode 7, after Laena’s death, Daemon and Rhaenyra reunite after a decade, and having grown out of their foolish young years, they finally come together. Daemon reminds Rhaenyra that for her to take him as her husband, Laenor must be dealt with. But Rhaenyra explains she loves Laenor, even if only platonically.

Daemon and Rhaenyra devise a plan and stage Laenor’s death, leading the Velaryons to believe that Ser Qarl killed him in a fiery duel. But according to the voiceover, the body was of an unnamed guard killed by Daemon moments before Laenor and Qarl’s staged a fight. Laenor and Ser Qarl flee to Essos while Rhaenyra and Daemon get married.
