A tale of power, glamour, jealousy, and murder… the second trailer of House of Gucci promises it all!
Inspired by true events and based on Sarah Gay Forden’s novel of the same name, House of Gucci will depict the murder of Maurizio Gucci (Adam Driver) by his wife Patrizia Reggiani (Lady Gaga).
Leading with Patrizia’s perspective, the movie will build up to the climax of Maurizio’s death.
Right up from dating the Italian businessman, her power struggle within the Gucci empire, to being blindsided and abandoned by Maurizio, we get to explore the motives behind Patrizia’s hit order. And wow, am I excited! Gaga’s performance is on a whole new level.
In real-life, Patrizia wasn’t really accepted into the Gucci family, being termed as a “social climber.” Although the couple stayed together for a little over a decade, Maurizio left her by lying about going for a business trip. The next day, Maurizio arranged for a friend to inform Patrizia that they were no longer together.
In the years that followed, Maurizio would date childhood friend Paola Franchi. The two preparing to get married in 1995 set off the series of events that led to Patrizia hiring a fatal hit on her ex-husband.
Joining in are Jared Leto as Paulo Gucci, Al Pacino as Aldo Gucci, Jeremy Irons as Rodolfo Gucci, and Salma Hayek as Giuseppina “Pina” Auriemma (Patrizia’s close friend and aid in hiring a hitman).
The Gucci family itself had a lot of different internal schemes going on. Paulo, for example, was fired by his father and uncle for using the Gucci name without their permission. In seeking revenge, Paulo directs the IRS to investigate his father’s tax invasion.
The House of Gucci provides an exciting insight into the lives of the world’s most exclusive. The movie has spared no expense, be it with the brilliant cast, luxurious costumes, or the detailed storytelling to give us an immersive experience.
House of Gucci will be out in theatres on November 24, following which it will also be made available on Paramount+.
