Daemon sure seems to have a penchant for getting on his brother’s nerves and getting exiled in return. In House of the Dragon Ep 4, he returned to King’s Landing after defeating the Crabfeeder and being crowned the King of the Narrow Sea.
Although Daemon made peace with Viserys I by giving up his crown, he earned his wrath by seducing Rhaenyra and sullying her honor, ultimately insinuating to the King that she should wed him after being in such a situation.
This did not sit well with Viserys who banishes Daemon for the second time. So what lies ahead for the Rogue Prince?
After being exiled in House of the Dragon Ep 4, Daemon will return to Bloodstone, until he hears news of his wife, Rhea Royce’s death. Then, he will persuade Lord Corlys to have his daughter Laena Velaryon wed him.
If you’re afraid that a second exile means that Daemon is off our screens for good, you have nothing to worry about. Daemon has plenty of misadventures that House of the Dragon will depict, and a few, in particular, that may bring him closest to his coveted Iron Throne.
But what’s in store for him in the near future, say Episodes 5 and 6? Here’s what you need to know.
Where will exiled Daemon go after Ep 4?
Daemon doesn’t have too many options to retreat to after Viserys exiles him for the second time. He’s already given up Dragonstone and abhors returning to the Vale. So he will spend some time back in the Stepstones.
That is until he hears news of his wife Rhea dying. In Fire & Blood, Rhea dies after falling off a horse. This prompts Daemon to fly to the Vale to claim her seat as his own and try to rule over Runestone. But he is scorned by Lady Jeyne Arryn, who forces him to leave without any power.
Where does he go next? To his dear friend, Lord Corlys, in Driftmark.
Will Daemon remarry for a second time?
After questionable escapades with Rhaenyra and asking Viserys for her hand thereafter, it seemed like Daemon was quite keen on making her his wife.
So yes, Daemon will remarry but it won’t be Rhaenyra (not just yet!) When he makes his way back to Driftmark, he lays his ambitions on Corlys’ daughter, Laena Velaryon. While Fire & Blood suggests he is enamored by her, it is possible that (like Rhaenyra) she’s just a pawn in his scheme for attaining the throne.
As you may also remember, in Ep 4 news came that the Sea Snake had arranged Laena to get married to the Sealord of Braavos’ son. This also prompted Viserys to make a match between Rhaenyra with Laenor Velaryon.
Let’s just say in the episodes to come, Daemon will “take care” of Laena’s fiancé using his dear longsword, Dark Sister.
When House of the Dragon takes another time jump, introducing the adult versions of Rhaenyra and Alicent among others, we shall see Daemon wedded to an adult version of Laena as well. This may take place in either Episode 4 or 5. Stay tuned!
