Horizon Forbidden West is a feast for the eyes. Its post-apocalyptic world takes you on a tranquilizing journey across breathtaking landscaped vistas and crumbling towns, each jammed with untold stories.
Everywhere you look through Aloy’s eyes zeroes in on the amount of attention that developer Guerilla has poured into its prized project. The touch of realism takes immersion to the next level and cements Forbidden West’s position as one of the most visually impressive games of all time.
Granted, Guerilla deserves a pat on the back for its unwavering dedication, but there’s still some work that was left to be done.
Ever since Horizon Forbidden West rolled out on February 18, players encountered an odd visual shimmering glitch while playing the title, mainly on performance mode. This bug literally made the game sparkle for some players, leaving them disoriented.
To attenuate the bug, the gaming community suggested a handful of makeshift solutions like re-enabling motion blur, but nothing reached the desired level. Thankfully, the troubles of enthusiasts did not escape Guerilla’s notice, and the studio has now addressed the shimmering glitch by releasing an online update.
On February 18, Guerilla Games announced via a tweet that the shimmering issue in Horizon Forbidden West has now been fixed. All players have to do is reboot the game twice to put the update into effect.
Restart it once for the fix to download, and a second time for the fix to activate!

Even though this isn’t a traditional patch that downloads in your console’s OS, it works just like one. With the fix applied, the shimmering glitch will cease to exist, and you will be able to help Aloy save the virtual Earth from a cataclysm.
Just like our beloved protagonist, you, too, can do your bit for our planet by unlocking the “Reached the Daunt” trophy as Sony has promised to plant a tree every time a player does so before March 25. It’s time to become an actual superhero from the comforts of your living room!
