Hogwarts Legacy has been the talk of the town since way back in 2018 when the first gameplay footage was leaked. This was enough for the Harry Potter community and fans of the magical world to be fascinated by this new game which would give them a chance to attend the prestigious Hogwarts school. With just a day left for launch, Hogwarts Legacy has already started breaking records.
Hogwarts Legacy broke the Twitch record as the most-watched single-player game with 1.3 million viewers on February 7th.
Hogwarts Legacy is currently only available to those who had pre-ordered the deluxe edition. So, several fans are left with no option but to turn to streamers to catch a glimpse of the much-anticipated game in action. The last game which broke this record was Cyberpunk 2077 which garnered 1.14 million viewers in 2020.
Partnered streamers are offering incentives to those who join their Hogwarts Legacy streams. Timely drops are now enabled which gives five in-game items to those who watch two hours of Hogwarts Legacy in a three-week period.
Four of those items can be obtained by watching the partnered streams, while the fifth one, Merlin’s Cloak, is only accessible by watching Avalanche Software’s early access/launch stream.
Just to clarify, Hogwarts Legacy hasn’t broken the all-time concurrent record, currently held by League of Legends with 3.11 million viewers. However, viewership numbers are only expected to grow from this point on since Hogwarts Legacy launches in a day. More users will tune in to watch the trending game after its final launch.
Hogwarts Legacy will allow fans to be a student at Hogwarts, and indulge in the whole experience, complete with going to classes, roaming around The Forbidden Forest, etc. It will be interesting to see how the magical game fares in sales after the game launches on February 10th, especially after the Switch version comes out in July.
