A lot of it amounts to the immersive world it has created through new stories, adventures and lore but more importantly the gaming community has been pleased with it top-notch gameplay. This is all thanks to the spell-enabled combats!
There are loads of opportunities for your player to fight off enemies of all kinds, for which you’ll need to equip yourself with the right tools. So which spell set is the best one in Hogwarts Legacy?
In Hogwarts Legacy, the best spell set to have is Expelliarmus, Glacius, Bombarda, and Crucio as this combination will disarm enemies, freeze them whilst allowing you to unleash high intensity attacks on them.

Best Spell Sets
Spell sets need to change depending on your setting and your intent of using then. To accommodate this, I’ve made four spell sets that are the best combinations for four very different situations. Using these, you’re bound to get through every obstacle!
I. All-round Combat
This set is a best-of-all-scenarios equip and yes, it does include an unforgivable curse as well. You won’t need this set all the time, but it is a great combination to have while facing higher-level enemies and threats.
A / Cross – Expelliarmus
B / Circle – Glacius
X / Square – Bombarda
Y / Triangle – Crucio
II. Short-Range Combat
Short-range combat is the main type of situation you’ll find yourself in. A lot of times, you’ll have many enemies coming towards you, so you’ll have to have the best spells in your arsenal to attack or block quickly. Here is my recommended set.
A / Cross – Diffindo
B / Circle – Incendio
X / Square – Depulso
Y / Triangle – Stupefy
III. Long-Range Combat
If you find yourself in a long-range combat situation, it’s best to keep this set handy. It will help attack enemies who are at a distance as well as continue to keep them away, so that they can’t attack you.
A / Cross – Confringo
B / Circle – Bombarda
X / Square – Depulso
Y / Triangle – Glacius
IV. Exploration
For the last set, it’s essential to equip yourself for exploration as this is what you’ll be doing a majority of the time during the game. Here are spells to keep handy:
A / Cross – Accio
B / Circle – Revelio
X / Square – Lumos
Y / Triangle – Reparo
Best Spell Combinations
Besides sets, you can try out combinations of 2-3 spells that work in tandem to give off a bigger attack and take down enemies more effectively without depleting your own resources. Now mind you, there are several combinations you can try out but here’s our tested combinations that give the best results! Have a look.
I. Glacius + Petrificus Totalus
In the final battle with the game main enemy, this spell comes in very handy — Use Glacius to freeze them, then use Petrificus Totalus to shatter them instantly. It works like magic! (Excuse the pun).
II. Accio + Incendio
Most low-level enemies can be killed with Incendio. But if you want to make the attack more effective, first cast Accio on your opponent, then cast an Incendio on them.
III. Expelliarmus + Ancient Magic Throw
This is another innovative way to use an opponent’s weapon against them! Use Expelliarmus to pull away that weapon and then cast Ancient Magic Throw onto the weapon, so it attacks the enemy back!
IV. Depulso + Descendo + Levioso
Ever wanted to give your enemies a good trashing but not fatally kill them? Well, this is the perfect spell combination for it. Depulso, Descendo and Leviosa are all movement spells which you can use to slam your opponents into different objects. It will lower down their health bar for sure!
V. Glacius + Imperio + Damage Spells
Taking down bigger enemies takes some tack. So, I recommend using a few stunning Glacius, followed by Imperio. This will give you enemy time to power-up for damage spells like Bombarda, Incendio, Diffindo, Confringo.
VI. Transformation + Depulso
This combination is as fun as it is evil! You can transform an enemy into an object using Transformation and then blow them up using Depulso. Easy-peasy and chaotic — however, stay cautioned, it does not work on all enemies.
