It appears that another season of the sketch comedy series, History of the World, Part II, might be in the works sooner rather than later.
The show, which features a star-studded cast including Mel Brooks, Wanda Sykes, Nick Kroll, and Ike Barinholtz, along with numerous celebrity guests, is a comedic take on history and aired for three nights on Hulu between March 6th and March 9th.
It serves as a sequel to Brooks’ classic 1981 film, History of the World, Part I, which also featured an ensemble cast including Dom DeLuise, Madeline Kahn, Harvey Korman, and Cloris Leachman.
Several cast and crew members of History of the World, Part II recently sat down for an interview with Newsweek. During the conversation, the topic of the show’s future was brought up, and showrunner David Stassen had a positive reply.
Although he didn’t explicitly confirm the production of Part III, he did imply that there is interest in continuing the series.

I think everyone that I know of is on board and would love another crack at some historical figures and eras.

The four-decade long gap between Part I and Part II of the franchise might have given the impression that Part III is a distant dream, but it’s important to note that the show has set a significant precedent as of now.
Despite creating numerous beloved films, A History of the World, Part II marks the first time any of Mel Brooks’ films have received a proper sequel.
Over the years, some of Mel Brooks’ most famous works have been given reboots or revivals in various forms. For instance, there was the release of Spaceballs: The Animated Series in 2009, and the recent Paws of Fury: The Legend of Hank remake of Blazing Saddles.
Nonetheless, A History of the World, Part II marks not only Brooks’ first proper sequel, but also the only one in which he has directly participated, apart from being credited as an executive producer.
The sketch comedy format and the vast historical setting of History of the World, Part II provided Mel Brooks with a lot of creative freedom and made it easier for him to accept the project.
Unlike his other iconic films such as Young Frankenstein, the series didn’t have a strict plot or established characters, freeing Brooks from feeling limited by his past work.
This allowed him to play in a huge sandbox of comedic possibilities. With the new series reigniting Brooks’ enthusiasm for his older material, it’s highly probable that he would eagerly accept another season if given the opportunity.
