The Seinen genre focuses primarily on the male young adult demographic, compared to its Shounen counterpart that focuses on young boys. This genre contains more mature themes and an older protagonist.
Good Job is a drama, seinen manga series launched by Hiroshi Motomiya and Hiroshi Takano in 2018 in Shueisha’s Young Jump magazine.
Hiroshi Motomiya and Hiroshi Takano announced in this year’s 30th issue of Shueisha’s Young Jump magazine on June 25 that Good Job will enter its final arc in the magazine’s next issue on Thursday.
Good Job is an omnibus about various occupations, whose tagline reads, “Tax collectors, deliverymen, nurses… this goes out to all the working adults!”
Hiroshi Motomiya serves as the illustrator for this manga and has multiple titles under his belt. Many of his mangas like Otoko Ippiki Gaki Daisho, Ore no Sora, Otokogi, and Katsu Fūtarō!! have inspired live-action films. Katsu Fūtarō!! was his latest manga that was adapted to a live-action film on November 1, 2019.
His most popular work Salaryman Kintaro manga has been running on and off in Shueisha’s Weekly Young Jump magazine since 1994.
It was restarted as a web manga in April 2005 and has launched several spinoff series in Weekly Young Jump since 2009.
Good Job has slipped under the radar of readers, with practically no digital presence.
It would be an interesting read during this pandemic where all working adults are either working from home or risking their lives to go to work every day.
Catching up to the final arc and following the manga can be a good change of pace during this time.
