Hinomaru Sumo was adapted into an anime after half a decade of its initial release. When the wrestling anime dropped, it got loads of appreciation from all over the community. Following a classical approach, staying faithful to the manga and the beautiful animation just made it more interesting than it already was.
After the show got over in March 2019, the fans have been waiting to hear some news for the second season, and here’s everything we know about the prospects of the Hinomaru Sumo Season 2 so far.
1. Release Date of Season 2
There isn’t any news regarding the production of ‘Hinomaru Sumo Season 2’ as of now. The studio and other production companies are silent about it.
But if one is to guess, it might get released in Summer 2021, keeping in mind the impact Covid-19 left on the anime industry. It’s still recovering from the pandemic.
Furthermore, the chances of the second season happening isn’t looking good.
2. Will there be a Season 2?
Hinomaru Season 2 is not happening as it has been cancelled. The show went under the radar, it didn’t get the recognition it was supposed to, which lead to a decent performance on the streaming platforms.
The not so appealing Blu-ray sales only create more doubts and perplexities. These two are the primary sources of revenue, and if these areas don’t perform well, then a new season is most probably not happening.
Although there’s no news or any announcement made by the studio, so there’s hope. Moreover, there are only 11 more volumes to cover, so they might just do it.
So yeah, cling onto those fat bodies and diapers, things aren’t over yet.

Gonzo stayed true to the manga art even in the anime; the use of dense dark lines and palette during the intense scenes was executed brilliantly and then dropping it down a notch for the rest of the part.
The art style is terrific and deserves a huge applause. There are almost no stills in all anime, and now this is what an excellent adaptation looks like. Truly amazing experience.
