The third episode of Hijack ended on a massive cliffhanger as we didn’t know if Sam, Hugo, and the other passengers were right in assuming that the bullets used by the passengers were fake.
Meanwhile, Zahra Gafoor and Alice Sinclair were giving their all to gather as much information as possible about the elusive hijackers to prevent the ongoing catastrophe.
Here, we’ll discuss the events of this week’s episode and how the final clash between the passengers and the hijackers shapes up.
Episode 4 starts with a bloodbath as the leader of the hijackers shoots a lady who was looking for her little girl Izzy. This is disastrous for the hostages as they realize that the bullets are, in fact, real.
Meanwhile, the plane enters Romanian airspace, and they ask for verifications according to flight protocols. The nefarious attackers believe nothing will happen if they maintain a radio silence while flying over foreign airspaces.
However, Captain Robin Allen points out that the plane will be treated as a missile by a foreign country if neither the captain nor the government provide any information, and they will shoot it down.
Alice Sinclair discovers that the Romanian fighter jets have surrounded the plane and are flying with it.
If nothing happens, they will surely shoot it down.
Meanwhile, Zahra Gafoor has made it very clear to the British foreign minister that they will not respond to any other nations till they have proper intel on the nationality of the hijackers.
Inside the plane, Robin Allen finally convinces the hijackers that the aircraft will indeed be shot down if they don’t respond and is finally allowed inside the cockpit.
However, they soon realize that the mic is broken and there is no way to communicate with the Romanian Air Traffic Control Center. Sam’s exceptional negotiating skills have been one of the show’s major highlights, and they save the flight from meeting a disastrous end.
In this week’s episode, one of the hijackers gets severely injured and starts losing a lot of blood. Sam starts talking to the hijacker to manipulate his vulnerabilities and extract information.
He starts by convincing the attacker that he needs to go to a doctor and plants the fear of death in his mind. The hijacker starts losing confidence and enters a psychological space where he just wants somebody to save his life.
Sam asks the hijacker to uncuff him, and he agrees. He realizes that this is a rare chink in the armor and tries to capitalize as much as he can.
Finally, the hijacker reaches a point where he can no longer control himself. He tells Sam he wants to call and talk to his mother one last time before dying.
Sam knows that this is a one-off opportunity where a phone with an active internet connection is given to him. He calls his wife Marsha and somehow gives her the hijacker’s mother’s phone number.
Marsha wastes no time in sharing her discovery with Daniel, who compares it against the national database and hits the jackpot. The number belongs to the Atterton family, and this intel helps them identify the other hijackers as well.
Meanwhile, the Romanian Foreign Secretary gives the ultimatum to his British counterpart, saying that they have only one minute before the plane is shot down. The tension peaks as the entire world watches the drama unfold!
However, British intelligence now has the names of all the hijackers, and they all happen to be British nationals. They relay this information to Romania, confirming that the plane is headed to the UK and the hijackers are their own citizens.
The attack is called off, and the entire world takes a sigh of relief as hundreds of innocent lives are saved!
The anti-climactic end after the nerve-wracking forty minutes is what this week’s episode is all about. The season finale will be out next week. Stay tuned till then!
