The official website for the original action-adventure anime High Card released a second promotional video and key visual for the anime. The video reveals two more supporting cast members and unveils the January 9 premiere date.
The newly announced cast members include Toshiyuki Morikawa, who will play the role of Greg Young, a veteran captain of the Shield City Police and Rie Takahashi as Sugar Peas, a rookie detective under Young.

The poker-themed anime follows 17-year-old Finn Oldman who lives on the streets. On discovering that his orphanage is on the brink of shutting down due to financial stress, Finn sets out for a casino aiming to make a fortune and save the orphanage.
However, on arriving at the casino Finn is met with horror when he encounters a car chase and bloody shootout caused by a man’s “lucky” card.
Through the course of the series, Finn will learn more about what caused the shootout and how the world order can be controlled by a set of 52 X-Playing cards which contain the power to bestow different superhuman powers and abilities to the ones that possess them.
This particular set of cards allows people to access hidden powers of the “buddy” that one can find within themselves. There is a secret group of players names High Card who were directly ordered by the king of Fourland to collect these cards that have been scattered across the kingdom, while moonlighting as employees of a luxury car maker named Pinochle.
Finn is scouted to be the fifth member of the group and embarks on a dangerous mission to find these cards. This mission is not without its obstacles as a rival car maker obsessed with Pinochle, and the Klondikes, an infamous Mafia family, stand in the High Card’s way.
The staff for High Card includes Junichi Wada as director, illustrator Ebimo as original character designer, and Nozomi Kawano as character designer. Naoki Kuroyanagi is the series composer. Kenichi Yamashita, Kazuhiko Inukai, and Shingo Nagai are serving as scriptwriters.
The band FIVE OLD NEWwill be performing the anime’s opening theme song “Trickster,” and the anime is being produced by Studio Hibari, with BALCOLONY being credited with the card design.
The anime is part of a mixed media project collaboration between Kadokawa, pachinko developer Sammy Corporation, and animation studio TMS Entertainment. This project also includes a manga, drama CD, and novel.

High Card is a multi-media franchise by Kadokawa, TMS Entertainment, and Sammy Corporation. IT is set to receive anime, manga, novel, and drama adaptations. The anime will be released in 2023.
The franchise is based in Fourland where the power of 52 cards can change the world order. The owners of the cards can also get superhuman powers. When all the cards are scattered over the kingdom, it is the job of the High Card members to bring them back again.
