If you are not over Kakegurui yet, then I have fantastic news for you as the creator of the series is back with yet another franchise, High Card.
This upcoming anime has all the thrill of Kakegurui but with a different plot and characters. Of course, the gambling game is still on, it’s named High Card, after all.
The High Card anime will be released in 2023. This poker-themed series is a multi-media franchise and will receive manga and novel adaptations.
Its English-subtitled promotional video will give you a glimpse into the kingdom of Fourland and the mysterious cards that can grant people powers.
The teaser reveals that Fourland has 52 cards that can grant its owners supernatural cards. So, of course, they are kept hidden away. That is until these cards suddenly get leaked.
Cue our protagonists (I like to call them card-hunters). This team of five is responsible for gathering all the cards again. Thus ensues a high-stakes game of brain games.

The anime’s character design is mindblowing, and I can tell that they will be an instant hit among otakus. Personally, I am still waiting for the manga announcement.
Apart from the novel and manga, the franchise will also ship its first drama cd volume on December 3, 2022.
