Hierarchy season 2 has not been confirmed, but episode 7’s post-credits scene means that the K-drama needs to continue despite its limited series status.
The newest Netflix original K-drama followed Kang Ha’s quest for revenge as he infiltrated the Jooshin High School to investigate his brother’s death.
The ending of Hierarchy gave Kang Ha massive closure and even redeemed the characters of Ri-an and Woo-jin. The final scene wherein Jae-i visits her mother would have been perfect to end the show, but there’s just one more scene left after the credits – an epilogue that changed everything.
1. Is Hierarchy Season 2 Happening?
Unfortunately for the fans of ‘Hierarchy,’ there is no update by the makers or Netflix about a second season being in the works. The series, however, does leave ample scope for a possible sequel.
Jae-i is away now, but her relationship with Ri-an and Kang Ha hasn’t concluded yet. Besides, there is unfinished business between Ri-an and Kang ha, as Kang ha refuses to forgive Ri-an for what happened to his brother.
The possibility of the series being renewed for a second season depends on the reception of the first season. If the first season can generate good streaming numbers for the platform, they will surely renew it for a second season.
2. Why does Hierarchy Season 2 look inevitable?
Episode 7 of Hierarchy leaves us with a gripping post-credits scene. He-ra’s discovery of a bloodied body hints at a continuation of the story. The identity of the body remains a mystery, but the immediate response of the main characters, drawn by He-ra’s screams, suggests a significant event is about to unfold.
The conclusion of Hierarchy brought most of its characters to redemption, but it appeared that the school catastrophe had only just begun.
Between the identity of the dead student, the mystery of who murdered them, and the anonymous text Ri-an received, Hierarchy episode 7 included way too many sequel hooks for season 2 not to happen.
Hierarchy was described as a limited series, yet it isn’t easy to believe a second season won’t happen now that it ended on a massive cliffhanger.
3. Did Kang Ha Kill That Student? Hierarchy’s Next Murder Mystery Explained
Hierarchy’s epilogue could be a red herring.
Doesn’t the ending of Hierarchy episode 7 make you feel that way? That maybe Kang Ha killed that student.
Remember how Kang Ha smiled at his phone when Ri-an had received the message from that anonymous number? That said, it all could have been a red herring.
It’s difficult to believe that Kang Ha would ever have a reason to kill a student and place a threat on Ri-an’s life after everything that transpired in the finale. While Kang Ha as the villain of the second season would be a great twist, that would just ruin the character altogether.
Justice, not vengeance, was what Kang Ha wanted for his brother. That’s why, apart from finding the person who killed his brother, Kang Ha also wished to reveal all the horrible things taking place at Jooshin High School, starting with the way the teachers, the principal, and the board were so careless.
But Kang Ha worked from the inside to change things and make the school better, to the point that even characters like He-ra and Woo-jin seemed better people by the end of this K-drama thriller. However, if there is a Hierarchy season 2, Kang Wa will likely be among the suspects.
4. What Does the Hierarchy Season 2 Setup Mean?
Hierarchy could make for a very different show if it returns for a second season. While Hierarchy Season 1 showed Kang Ha facing all the powerful forces at the school to find out what happened to his brother and bring him justice, in Season 2, one could easily see the show turning to the issue of solving this new murderer.
Kang Ha was a victim and hero at the same time during the first season, but this time around, he would be one of the suspects. Another one is Jae-i, who is now not living the life of an heir.
But it seems like Jae-i has found Ri-an once more, and the two have confessed their feelings to each other.
Hierarchy Season 2 will be about revisiting the love triangle of Jae-i, Ri-an, and Kang Ha, only this time with the mysterious death of a student as the story’s driving force.
The K-drama will probably need some new villains because almost everyone came together, and almost all became good with each other by the end of the show.
