Nobody Wants to Die is a newly released single-player crime-thriller game set in a dystopian New York of 2329. Although the game doesn’t sport overly complex mysteries, it offers some intriguing interactive puzzles that are fun to solve.
One such puzzle earns the quirky ‘Chicken of Justice’ achievement, and you might question – what’s the connection between a chicken-themed puzzle and a gritty murder mystery set in a dystopian world?
Just to clear things up, No Chickens were harmed during the making of this puzzle. Or while solving it. Or even while writing this guide.
Fans of brain teasers and logical challenges may find the day-night chicken puzzle quite straightforward. But if puzzles aren’t your forte, worry not!
With this quick guide, you’ll solve the day-night chicken puzzle with ease and earn the ‘Chicken of Justice’ Achievement, regardless of your puzzle-solving skills.
“Chicken of Justice” Achievement in Nobody Wants to Die
For this achievement, put on your thinking hat, channel your inner detective, and solve a rather peculiar puzzle!
In Nobody Wants to Die, the opportunity to solve the “Chicken of Justice” puzzle arises during the Old Museum storyline, specifically after Sara shares information about Taylor with James and unlocks the bedroom.
The task at hand involves drawings of chickens and manipulating light switches – where the light switches should be on for day chickens and off for night chickens – and finally interacting with a chicken statue to unlock the achievement.
How to Solve The “Chicken Of Justice” Puzzle
To solve the “Chicken of Justice” puzzle, start by entering Sara’s bedroom, where you’ll find a comic book titled ‘Chicken of Justice’ on the bed. Flip it over, and you’ll find the secret to solving this puzzle.
The instructions can be found in the book synopsis, which reads-
“The last of his kind, he fights for a better world! When darkness falls, he dons a mask and dispenses justice. He crows each dawn with a pure heart, knowing he’s protected the streets of his city.
Add-on: Solve puzzles and summon the Chicken of Justice! Are you worthy to become his assistant?”
Below the writing are two red drawings: a daytime chicken proudly crowing and a nighttime chicken playing Batman.
So clearly (or not), the secret to solving the puzzle is to turn on the lights for the day chicken and, conversely, turn off the lights for the heroic night chicken.
Location of All Four Chicken Drawings
Now that you know the mechanics of the puzzle, it’s only a matter of locating the chicken drawings.
- The first chicken can be found in the bedroom itself. You’ll find a night chicken, so switch off the nearby lamp.
- The second chicken can be found at the dead end to the left of the bedroom exit. This day-chicken sits in darkness, so turn on the adjacent light.
- The third chicken can be found to the right of the grand stone staircase. This night chicken is already in the dark, so no action is required.
- The fourth chicken can be found in a hidden area with shelves, accessible through a hole in the wall on the opposite side of the old museum. Inside, you’ll see a day chicken that needs light, so switch it on.
The last action will trigger the opening of a nearby metal gate. Proceed through the gate, take a right turn, and then head up the stairs to a hidden room. There, you’ll discover a shiny metallic chicken statue waiting for you!
Examining the statue will finally grant you the “Chicken of Justice” Achievement, marking the successful completion of this comic puzzle.
Good luck counting all your chickens (don’t worry, they’ve already hatched) and switching the lights on or off!
