If you are into comedy and love themes like the ones ‘Gintama’ and ‘Urusei Yatsura’ have, then you might like this one. Just like these two, ‘Henjin no Salad Bowl’, also known as ‘A Salad Bowl of Eccentrics’ also involves aliens coming to Earth.
This, however, comes under the reverse isekai genre as the alien teleports to Earth from nowhere. As of now, it does not include any invasion plot as the manga is still quite young, being released in 2021.
On Thursday, Shogakukan’s Gagaga Bunko announced on Twitter that the light novel series ‘Henjin no Salad Bowl’ will get an anime adaptation. Kantoku, the illustrator for the light novels shared a visual celebrating the announcement and the birthday of the character Sara.

English Translation, Twitter Translate
‘Henjin no Salad Bowl’ is created by Yomi Hirasaka and illustrated by Kantoku. The two have previously worked together for the 2015 light novel series ‘A Sister’s All You Need’.
The story is about a broke detective Sosuke Kaburaya who bumps into Sara, an alien from another world with magical powers. The two-start living together, and Sara gets accustomed to Japan. Other details such as cast, and the release date have not been revealed as of yet.
The fifth light novel volume will arrive on July 19. A manga adaptation is also ongoing since September 2022 and is illustrated by Kotaro Yamada.
The light novels look fun to read and don’t take a serious route. It may take a few recurring arcs in the future like ‘Gintama’ did. Hirasaka and Kantoku’s ‘A Sister’s All You Need’ was loved by fans, so I do expect this one to be just as enjoyable to watch.
