Helldivers 2 Developer reveals that Arrowhead is considering a test server

Helldivers 2 recently became the fastest-selling PlayStation title of all time after crossing 12 million sales within 12 weeks of going on sale. However, there have been some heated discussions related to the game in the past few weeks. After a series of “mid” patch updates, developers are finally doing something about it. 

A Helldivers 2 developer recently revealed that Arrowhead Game Studios is considering a “test server” in light of recent backlash. Players have spoken up about the latest weapon nerfs, something which even the director agreed with.

On the official Helldivers 2 Discord server, a user asked an Arrowhead community manager if they were considering implementing a test server, stating that they would love to try new guns and Stratagems. It would be like a beta test where players can test new features before they go live.

To the question above, the community manager Twinbeard replied “Yes, there are… Can’t say for sure what there will be or at what stage we’re in regarding setting things up, but alternatives to that are being discussed, yes.” 

Just looking at past instances, test servers can prove really helpful in figuring out what works and what doesn’t. Since the recent Helldivers 2 updates were not well-received, some feedback could really aid developers find where the problem lies.

Community manager Baskinator recently shared a poll in the official Discord server, asking players “What do you think of Polar Patriots so far?” Out of the 21,000 members who cast their vote, only 3% said that they liked the Polar Patriots Warbond update.

Diablo 4 also introduced a test server before the Season 4 update went live. As a result, the update turned out to be hugely successful. Helldivers 2 could really benefit from a test server. Hopefully, the developers will announce something good really soon.
