Senua’s Saga: Hellblade 2 was originally announced in December 2019 at that year’s The Game Awards, with the game being the first Xbox Series X exclusive. Nothing much was revealed about the game after that.
Developer Ninja Theory then showcased breathtaking in-engine footage from the game to show off Unreal Engine 5’s capabilities at The Game Awards 2021.
No release date was revealed at that time, as Ninja Theory founder and creative director Tameem Antoniades said that the game wasn’t in full production, which confirmed that the game wouldn’t be releasing in 2022.
Hellblade fans have been waiting for more information on the game ever since it was showcased at The Game Awards 2021. Some fans also hoped that the game would come out later this year, and it seems like that just might be the case, thanks to an Xbox ad.
Xbox released a 60-second-long video for Xbox Game Pass, which features a montage of various games. The video showcased a list of games that are releasing this year. Interestingly, the list also includes Senua’s Saga: Hellblade 2, which doesn’t have any release date as of now.

There hasn’t been any official confirmation about Hellblade 2 releasing this year. The video doesn’t outright state that all the games included will launch this year, it just implies they’re Xbox Game Pass 2023 releases. Hellblade 2 being there does hint at the game coming out this year after all.
Fans should still keep their expectations in check, regardless of what the video shows. Hellblade 2’s release date might be announced at this year’s Xbox Game Showcase, which is slated for June 11. Hopefully, some information regarding the game will be revealed there, and if that’s not the case, then it’s safe to say the game will be released next year.
