Adapted from the modern translation of the book “Tale of Heike,” watching this anime, what hits you right away is the animation because of just how artistic it is.
The storytelling is quite similar to Genji Monogatari of 1987 and Showa Genroku Rakugo Shinju of 2016.
In the beginning, Shigemori’s brother Munemori has been declared head of the Heike. Go-Shirakawa tries to take advantage of Kiyomori’s shock due to his son’s death, taking away assets and territories.
Noble families instigate Prince Mochihito for a rebellion against the infant king and, therefore, Heike.
This starts an all-out war. Shigehira is seen doing a much better job of handling things than Munemori. Will the Heike survive without Shigemori? Here we bring you the latest updates.
Episode 6 Speculations
This fast-paced story has raised many questions among the watchers. Now that Shigemori is dead and his warmongering father Kiyomori has declared war upon anyone disregarding the authority of the Heike, will the people come to live in fear of the Heike name again?
In this series, Biwa is a truly mysterious character. Sukemori is seen saying she must be a specter because she never changes, which is odd when one thinks about it because she never grows up.
Even the woman who narrates the story in song at intervals uncannily resembles Biwa. There is definitely something hidden here.

Episode 5 Recap
The episode begins with Koremori remarking how Biwa has inherited their father’s eyes, and Sukemori calls her a specter because of her unchanged appearance.
Munemori berates Shigemori’s children for being merry at their father’s funeral and declares himself head of the Heike clan.
As Biwa plays with Tokuko’s son, Tomomori comes in and is surprised seeing Biwa’s eyes. He asks if she isn’t perhaps a love child of Shigemori, just like the Emperor has an illegitimate child, which upsets Tokuko.
Go-Shirakawa takes advantage of Kiyomori’s shock and seizes Heike’s territories and assets, prompting Kiyomori to return to the capital, gather soldiers, and dismiss high officials, filling them with men from Heike.
He exiles regent Motofusa to Hyuga, but when begged, he exiled Motofusa to Bizen. He also confined Go-Shirakawa to Toba palace.
Shigehira looks after his nephews and talks about Munemori’s unreasonable behavior of forcibly taking a prized horse from Lord Nakatsuna, even naming the horse Nakatsuna. He then holds Biwa’s hand and assures her that he will always assist her if she needs it.
Because of this, Lord Nakatsuna instigates Prince Mochihito to retaliate against the Heike and hatch a rebellion against Emperor Antoku.
Shigehira finds out and alerts his father, Kiyomori, who comes back to the capital and orders his men to exile the prince to Tosa.
The prince hides at Onjoji temple and asks for help from the Enryakuji, but they had been paid off by the Heike beforehand. The prince then seeks shelter at Byodoin, which is attacked by the Heike subsequently.
Shigehira handles the battle very well, but Koremori is shell-shocked due to the ravages of war and was comforted by Shigehira.
On the other end, Tokuko tells Biwa how she is distressed because her husband, the former emperor, has had another son by Lady Shokuko.
He must find other women more comforting because he can’t forgive her, she is a Heike, and they killed his brother. Tokuko forgives everyone because someone needs to.
Biwa sees another vision, and in it, Shigemori asks her if she has forgiven. Lastly, Koremori is seen getting a nightmare from trauma of war.
