‘Heels’ S2 E3: Jack and Ace Reunite, But Face a New Threat

The Starz sports drama series, Heels, is back with season 2. The first season ends with the Duffy Wrestling League achieving significant success, but at the cost of the brothers’ relationship.

Ace leaves town after discovering Jack’s lies. In season 2 episode 3, titled ‘Discord,’ Jack tries to find his brother and bring him back, while Willie takes over the promotion.

Meanwhile, Charlie Gully returns to Duffy with an offer for Jack. So, let’s delve deeper into season 2 episode 3 and talk about its cliffhanger ending.

1. Heels Season 2 Episode 3 Overview

The episode opens with a flashback of Jack’s childhood, where he faces his mother’s wrath for eating a piece of cake. In the present day, Jack visits his mother’s house to find out where Ace has gone.

He then leaves to search for his brother, entrusting Willie with the management of the promotion. Willie soon realizes that they need to find a better way to showcase Crystal’s talent than having her fight the male wrestlers indefinitely.

Two young women find Ace as he descends the hill and help him. Ace fails to notice the pride flag on one of their jackets and makes inappropriate comments. The women reject his advances and advise him to improve his behavior. The encounter unsettles Ace, and he vandalizes his hotel room.

Crystal’s popularity has attracted many new fans for DWL, but Willie faces a dilemma about the future direction of the promotion. She decides that the best option is to establish a women’s division. This would allow them to recruit new talent and grow their business.

Willie demonstrates her leadership skills while Jack is preoccupied with family issues. She also collaborates with Bill and Crystal to develop a tentative outline for the upcoming shows.

2. Does Ace come back to Duffy?

Yes, Ace comes back to Duffy by the end of the episode. Jack tracks down his brother’s location using their mother’s phone and arrives at the motel where Ace is staying.

He knocks on the door and starts apologizing as soon as Ace opens it. However, he soon realizes that Ace left for a deeper reason. Ace felt guilty and regretful for what he said to his brother.

Ace felt betrayed and decided to leave. Jack attempted to persuade his younger brother to come back to Duffy with him, but Ace declined, as if he was doing penance.

His experience on the road appeared to have transformed him, making him calmer and more patient than his older self. Ace eventually returned to Duffy, and after learning that his mother would not let him stay with her, he visited his brother, who welcomed him warmly.

3. Why does Staci return to Jack?

In this episode, Staci returns home with her son, Thomas. She realizes that the temporary separation from Jack is affecting Thomas negatively, who questions her about leaving his father. On Thomas’ insistence, Staci decides to return to Jack, although he was not at home.

When Jack comes back from his unsuccessful attempt to persuade his brother to return, he finds his wife and son at home. He and Staci apologize and make up. Then, Ace arrives at Jack’s door, and Jack lets him in. However, this does not mean that Jack and Staci’s problems have disappeared. They still have to deal with them.

4. Heels S2E3 Ending Explained: Did Jack agree to Gully’s offer?

The episode ends on a cliffhanger, as Jack is yet to make his decision and give an answer to Charlie’s offer.

Charlie Gully is the owner and promoter of Florida Wrestling Dystopia, a promotion that prioritizes spectacle over storytelling. Gully has not forgiven Jack for assaulting him at the FWD headquarters.

In this episode, he arrives at the Dome with his associates and presents Jack with an offer that he cannot reject. Gully suggests a contest between the wrestlers of DWL and FWD. He has observed the recent success of DWL and wants a share of its profits.

When Jack tries to ignore him, Gully reveals that he has brought a lawyer. He threatens to sue Jack and DWL and make him pay for the rest of his life, unless Jack agrees to his offer. We’ll find out in the next episode whether Jack accepts his offer.

Ace’s comeback implies that he will resume wrestling as soon as his leg recovers, restoring DWL’s full roster. The siblings need to cooperate if DWL is to survive the crisis caused by Jack’s rash actions. Jack also needs to be more flexible on some aspects of pro wrestling.

Female wrestling is a largely untapped niche at the indie level, and DWL has a great opportunity to launch a female division with Crystal as the leader. Jack can save the promotion from this disaster if he can acknowledge that spectacles can also be well-written.
