Kendall Roy was very particular about wanting an “all bangers all the time” tracklist for his 40th birthday party.
HBO granted his wish and released a playlist consisting of songs from the Chemical Brothers, LCD Soundsystem, Alison Wonderland, among others.
Of course, Billy Joel’s Honesty isn’t on it—if the drug-fiend party guests heard it, they’d all end up having a bad trip. Besides, Jeremy Strong’s short cover in the episode was enough to bring anyone to tears.
With theories strongly suggesting that the man could possibly die in the upcoming finale, HBO was kind enough to release the 16-track “Kendall’s Birthday Mix” on Spotify. But does the playlist really consist of all bangers and no skips? Check it out for yourself.
However, this isn’t the first time streamers have used Spotify to promote their TV shows. Hulu has previously made similar playlists for its shows like Normal People. Most recently, Netflix curated such playlists for Money Heist characters before its final season premiere.
Music can be healing, and hopefully, this playlist helped Strong, too, as he injured his leg while filming Kendall’s 40th birthday party. The actor told The New Yorker,
I jumped off a stage, thinking I could fly, but it turns out I can’t. It made sense in the moment, though.
With Succession Season 3 reaching its conclusion, the series has already been renewed for a fourth season.
HBO Max dropped a promo for Episode 9, hinting that “all will be revealed” when the finale airs this Sunday.
