The HBO Max recent app update (v. 50.30.0) made on June 2nd replaced the standard tvOS playback UI with HBO’s own version. Much to the annoyance of Apple TV users, the new update seemed to include a lot of bugs.
Apple TV users have been complaining about multiple issues after the latest app update.
The update has broken the Apple TV remote controls like fast forward, rewind, and more. Users were unable to use the control ring on the Apple TV remote and couldn’t navigate by tapping the trackpad.
They were also unable to skip the intro or jump to the next episode while watching a series.
Users faced problems with captions and the menu for languages, audio, and caption not working. The update didn’t allow users to use Siri commands to control HBO Max.
While HBO Max has acknowledged many user reports, it might take the service provider some time to fix them. They made another update a few hours ago that improved some of the features, but users were still not happy about it.
Some users took to Reddit to complain that they did not notice any difference.
According to some users, 4K Dolby Vision is still not working, and Atmos only works for some titles, and the app repeatedly crashes when downloading shows on iOS.
Head of HBO Max, Andy Forsell, says a complete fix is on the way.
