Episode 8 Recap
Upon returning home from Choshi, Maou is advised to get another part-time job by Urusihara. Ashiya is frustrated by Urusihara’s laziness, as he relies on others too much.
He is fortunate to find a part-time job in Nagano, thanks to Chiho. Upon leaving for the village, they hear Chiho’s mother tell them they will work in the fields.
The Sasaki own everything in Nagano when they finally arrive. Upon arrival in Chiho’s village, Maou and his friends are warmly welcomed by his cousin, sister-in-law, and grandmother.
In addition to being offered an enormous room, the trio discovers that there is a bear threat in the area. When Maou and his friends return from work, Chiho’s cousin takes them to the local hot spring bath.
Upon their arrival, they meet Emi and Suzuno, who have traveled to Nagano to find Alas Ramus’ father. To explain their relationship to Sasaki, Emi makes up a story. Despite this, Emi asks Maou and his two friends for an opportunity to work together in the field.
In later conversations, Chiho tells him that Emi has been worried about them working in the area due to their inexperience, so she decided to lend a helping hand.
After scolding Maou and his friends the following morning, Emi goes to Maou’s room to get them out of bed so they can work in the field. They get divided into two groups once they reach the area to work more efficiently together.
He began harvesting the crops with Emi, who informed him that harvesting early in the morning helps retain nutrients in the crops.
Maou appears to be grateful to Emi for her help without even asking for it as he listens to her with all his attention. Nagano had not been on her schedule, but she still came. Due to their shared past, he also feels guilty about it.
As Emi notices this, she tells Maou she can make an exception if he has some remorse for his actions, even though she is still angry and refuses to forgive him. Therefore, Emi appears to be letting go of the past and not holding Maou accountable as long as he is sorry.
Maou and his friends spend a few hours in their rooms after working hard in the fields since early morning. After missing his mother for a while, Chiho’s grandma suggests they take Hitoshi for a walk. The nearby areas are a favorite place for Maou, his friends, and Alas Ramus. Both of them seem to have had a lot of fun.
They finally meet his sister-in-law to show gratitude to them for taking care of Chiho’s son. Her world is turned upside down when she discovers something shocking. Granny’s attacker is looking in their direction just a few meters away.
As a result, she asks the group to remain silent and sit down so that no one gets noticed. Hitoshi began crying loudly as they walked away, and the bear appeared to notice.
The episode ends with viewers hanging out since it plans to attack them. It can be concluded, however, that Maou and his friends will not only escape unscathed without their supernatural powers but will also be able to defend themselves without revealing their true identities, based on Satoshi Wagahara’s light novel inspired by the anime.
