Easy Anti-Cheat Support May Have Sorted Steam Deck Compatibility

Despite offering sky-high potential, Steam Deck fell into the trap of a conundrum that raised significant issues. Concerns were being raised about the Deck’s compatibility, with many questioning if the handheld is compatible with a broad spectrum of games, especially multiplayer.

Now the matter might have been remedied with Epic lending a helping hand to this handheld PC.

As revealed by Rock, Paper, Shotgun, Epic Online has rolled out Easy Anti-Cheat support for the Linux OS as well as the Steam Deck.

Considering that Valve’s handheld relies on Proton, a Linux-based system, this news ensures the heavy arsenal of games that utilize EAC software are now compatible with the Deck.

This is quite a monumental advancement because umpteen online games count on EAC for opposing cheats and hacks.

Previously, EAC never went hand in hand with Linux. This meant all the big-hitters of the gaming sphere like Apex Legends, Halo: The Master Chief Collection, Dead by Daylight, Fall Guys, and so on wouldn’t have been compatible with Steam Deck.

The latest development, on the other hand, allows Valve to entice huge swaths of gamers clasping the Deck all at once.

Back in the day when Steam Deck was announced, Valve took the market by storm by claiming that they couldn’t find a single game that it wouldn’t run. This assurance made us all sing praises of the Deck’s compatibility capabilities.

It’s good to see Valve backing their claims and not throwing empty promises at enthusiasts. As of now, no matter how hard one tries, it’s hard to find even a single fault in Steam Deck.

It’s an understatement to say that the Deck houses every tool that can revolutionize the gaming world as we know it, and I can’t wait for its release this December.
