Has Marvel canceled She-Hulk: Attorney at Law Season 2?

It seems like Marvel’s lawyer-turned-superhero, She-Hulk, will not return anytime soon. Though nothing has been explicitly confirmed, it’s very likely that She-Hulk: Attorney at Law has been canceled.

In the last few months, quite a few statements and incidents hint that the 2022 Disney+ Marvel series has been canceled. We can’t pinpoint one reason why it could have happened, as there surely are several factors at play.

It seems like Marvel Studios may have decided to cancel She-Hulk: Attorney at Law due to many factors, including bad reviews, low ratings, and various production problems.

Here’s everything we know about the cancellation as of now, and how it might affect the future of the character in the franchise.

Statements by the She-Hulk Cast

Tatiana Maslany, who plays the titular superhero in the series, was recently asked in an interview with Extra, if She-Hulk: Attorney at Law will return for a second season.

Maslany said that she would not be too sure of it, as the MCU head, Kevin Feige, was pretty “dismissive” about the idea. She also explained that she would love to play Jen Walters again, but she is not sure if that will happen anytime soon.

Jameela Jamil, who plays Titania in the series, also posted a few photos of herself along with Mark Ruffalo and Tatiana Maslany after the Season 1 finale aired. Trust me when I say this, the posts were pretty much aimed at saying goodbye to fans of She-Hulk.

From Maslany’s comments and Jamil’s posts, it is clear that the cast does not expect a renewal anytime soon. Maslany also mentioned that the makers do not seem too eager about it, so it is unlikely that they’re completely wrong.

Poor Reviews and Low Ratings

Apart from such hints, the most obvious reason behind any show getting canceled is poor critical acclaim and fans’ response. Though a certain section of fans enjoyed She-Hulk, it was not received favorably by most.

The series received a lot of backlash from the audience. It also received harsh reviews and low ratings on the internet, further hampering the show. Since the show was not liked by most, it naturally could not earn much, either.

So, it is a no-brainer that Marvel Studies would decide to cancel the series, or at least not renew it as of now. Another important reason why She-Hulk could be canceled is its finale and how K.E.V.I.N, an AI responsible for the storylines of various Marvel films and shows, sounded quite dismissive of it.

She-Hulk Finale

The finale was pretty much a clear ending, and there were no hints of a follow-up season happening. The show’s poor reviews and backlash for its new structure and form of storytelling further reduced its chances of getting renewed.

Another thing to note is that She-Hulk, as a show, has a very niche appeal. It is not a regular MCU series, nor does it follow the generic superhero trope. It is more like a comedy or a slice-of-life series, which may not be everyone’s cup of tea.

At the least, Marvel fans would definitely not expect to watch a Brooklyn-Nine-Nine-esque sitcom about a Marvel superhero. They clearly want something they are more used to watching.

Will She-Hulk appear in the MCU anymore?

Now that we’re over the depressing bit, let’s move on to some positive stuff. Though She-Hulk most likely stands canceled as of now, Jennifer Walters as a character can certainly return to the MCU.

She-Hulk could make an appearance in the upcoming MCU project, Captain America: New World Order. The film will be Sam Wilson’s first as Captain America, and he will be up against The Leader, who was also transformed by the gamma radiation in Hulk’s blood.

Since the movie will include the Leader, who has a previous connection to Jen’s family, there’s a chance of Jen Walters appearing in a cameo or supporting role in the film. In fact, Jen is also the lawyer of Emil Blonsky, another one of Hulk’s old nemeses. However, all of this is just speculation, so please take it with a pinch of salt.

Another possible place for Jen to make an appearance could be a potential sequel to The Incredible Hulk. The She-Hulk finale introduced Hulk’s son, Skaar, thus opening up the possibility of another solo Hulk movie. In case that happens, She-Hulk could make a comeback in the sequel.

The last in this list of possible places for Jen to pop up in would be the new season of Daredevil, set to hit the screens in 2024. As the new season is a revival of sorts for the beloved superhero, it would make sense to include his new Marvel-verified girlfriend. So, for all the shippers of this perfectly matched couple, there might just be a light at the end of the tunnel!

As of now, though, nothing is confirmed. Only time will tell whether She-Hulk will get a promising future in the franchise. Here’s to hoping we see more of the super-lawyer!
