The Japanese entertainment industry lost a popular actor today. 30-year-old actor Haruma Miura was found dead at his home.
According to Japanese media reports, the actor was found hanging at his home in Minato Ward around 1 pm JST on July 18. Seeing the actor unresponsive, he was rushed to the nearest hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries.
While Haruma’s official cause of death has not been confirmed, he is believed to have committed suicide, according to the Metropolitan Police Department of Tokyo.
The actor was supposed to go to a meeting scheduled for today. When he did not turn up at the meeting, a staff member inquiring about his whereabouts visited his home to discover the actor hanging in his house.
Haruma Miura began his career with his debut in the NHK drama Agri at the age of seven. Haruma enrolled in the Tsukuba Actor’s Studio and formed a dance trio called Bash Vrats with two other students.
When Tsukuba Actor’s Studio closed down, he and his bandmates signed up with Amuse Inc. He gained recognition through various dramas, including “Fight” in 2005.
Haruma Miura has been known for his leading roles in live-action films like Kimi Ni Todoke and Attack on titan. He has also appeared in several stage plays like the Japanese adaptation of the Broadway Musical “Kinky Boots”.
He played a Drag queen in the play that won him the Best Actor Award and Haruko Sugimura Award at 24th Yomiuri Theater Awards.
