Harrison Ford has brought many characters to life on the big and small screen, but he’s best known for his characterization of Indiana Jones. A role he’s played for over four decades, Ford will be saying farewell to the legendary icon in his upcoming film Indiana Jones: The Dial of Destiny.
In an interview with ScreenRant, the Indiana Jones star gave away the secret to becoming the legendary character, explaining how he’s played the role for so long. Read his complete statement below:
To make the audience understand that the physical challenges, the emotional challenges, the overcoming of fear, the overcoming of just how you can believe the circumstances you’ve gotten yourself in, and how you might work your way out of them is a big part of the story.
Indy is such a relatable character not only because of his undeterred courage and his abundance of hope and bravery in the face of evil. Nor is it because of his very reasonable and totally understandable fear of snakes!
It’s his unflinching attitude of keeping himself on his toes, using his physical skills and mental prowess to keep withstanding the blows of his enemies.
Harrison Ford has played the role of Indiana Jones since 1981, introducing a new obstacle in the path of the famous raider – age. As he grew older, he understood it would get difficult to keep finding trouble for himself, but that didn’t deter Indy from going for what he wanted and putting away any bad guys that got in his way.
Fans have always admired the legendary icon’s can-do attitude and perky resolve to never let the little guy down. The character’s personality is what brings in the viewers and gains their loyalty, not just his penchant for escaping from every scrap with a few injuries and still keeping it going.
Harrison Ford will pass on the torch in the upcoming Indiana Jones 5, but he will always be remembered for his role as the iconic character. Don’t you agree?
