DC Comics anthology series centering around The Crown Prince and his most famous sidekick, Harley Quinn, was a hit among avid readers. Harley Quinn: Black + White + Red is getting a sequel, and the new series has more adventures planned for the titular heroine after she tore away from Joker’s toxic lifestyle.
Harley Quinn: Black + White + Redder will feature multiple standalone stories by popular creators, and one will pair her up with the Jester of Genocide’s first sidekick, Gaggy.
Gagsworth “Gaggy” Gagsworthy first debuted in Batman #186 as Joker’s first official partner-in-crime. But it wasn’t until his appearance nearly four decades later that Gaggy did something worth remembering.
In Gotham City Sirens, the dwarf goes after Harley for stealing his spot beside the Ace of Knaves, bitter at being forgotten after she came along and ruined his chances at fame.
Paul Scheer, Nick Giovannetti, and artist Tom Reilly will prepare the upcoming story for the anthology series, in which Quinn will recruit Joker’s OG sidekick to partake in a heist that will benefit them both.
Other stories in the anthology include Harley and Ivy breaking into Superman’s Fortress of Solitude and another depicting Harley’s past as a gymnast. The former will be created by Chip Zdarsky and Kevin Maguire, and the latter by Leah Williams and Natacha Busto.
The anthology series mainly focuses on Harley’s present life after she has separated from Joker, so maybe Gaggy and her will have something in common – a former employer they had a hard time letting go of.
Nothing bonds two people together better than shared trauma, which will be the perfect setting to unite the two enemies in the new comic issue. Of course, there will be a healthy amount of awkwardness and skirmishes are to be expected, but Harley’s choice of her heist partner has a hidden benefit.
Gaggy could never get over losing Joker and the fame that came with being his sidekick. Harley knows the toxic companionship and how difficult it is to escape from it and understand its true nature. The reformed villain can help Gaggy detach from his “idol” and look forward to better opportunities.
Harley Quinn: Black + White + Redder #1 will be on sale from July 18, 2023. So, grab your copies and dive into Harley Quinn’s latest adventure!
