Hannah Gadsby is back with another special two years after her exceptional special Nanette got consistent applause and recognition.

Gadsby got a Peabody Award in 2018 and an Emmy Award for Outstanding Writing for a Variety Special in 2019 for Nanette. The expectations are high for Douglas, which Gadsby ran for five weeks at New York City’s Daryl Roth Theater the previous summer.
It was met with positive reviews that compared it as a characteristic followup to Nanette while additionally isolated from her past work with some lighter material like Where’s Waldo and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles as subjects that stand out enough to be noticed, where Nanette handles themes like homophobia and psychological sickness
