Those who have already played the game once know exactly what kind of adventure awaits you. However, if you are one of those who will jump into the Silent Hill 2 remake directly, there’s much more in store for you other than just amazing graphics. There are new locations, puzzles, and weapons!
Melee weapons are part of the storyline. So you definitely won’t miss them. However, firearms can be hard to find if you don’t know where to look. Check out how you can get every weapon in Silent Hill 2 remake.
Handgun (Pistol)
The handgun is the first weapon you will find in the game. As you explore Wood Side Apartments, look for a note. It talks about neighbors complaining about gunfire in Apartment 271. You know where to go next.
Apartment 217 is on the second floor. However, the main hallway to the second floor will be locked. You will find the key during a cutscene. After you retrieve the key, make your way to the floor and find Apartment 217.
There will be a shopping cart in the middle of the room. The handgun will be inside it.
Shotgun
Right as you enter Brookhaven Hospital, you will spot an empty gun cabinet on the wall by the entrance. As you might have guessed by now, the Silent Hill 2 remake is full of such clues.
The shotgun is on the second floor in the Women’s Locker Room. You can find it easily after reaching the director’s office. Consult the floor plan whenever needed.
Once inside the Locker Room, you can find the shotgun in one of the lockers.
Rifle
The hunting rifle is the most powerful weapon in Silent Hill 2. Players can find it inside Toluca Prison Army. It is in one of the first rooms you come across. However, it will be locked initially. There should be a note nearby revealing that the key is in the Witness Checkpoint.
The checkpoint is locked down thanks to the security system. So, you need to use the Headless Serpent door to reach Death Row. Once you reach the execution chamber, overload the generator. It will shut down the power for the entire prison. Now that every door is unlocked, go to the Witness Checkpoint and retrieve the key. Use the key to access the locked door and get the rifle.
Chainsaw
The chainsaw is an additional weapon in Silent Hill 2’s New Game Plus mode. You can unlock the game mode after completing the base game.
You can find the chainsaw at the beginning itself. The road at the start of the game is where you will find it.
Take the path through the woods which leads to the cemetery. There’s a lumber yard behind it. On the right side of the road, there is a pile of logs. The chainsaw is right there.
