Chapter 86 of Toilet-Bound Hanako-kun, titled “Bound for the Far Shore (Part 3),” is the latest installment of the manga.
The ship has finally sailed. After 85 chapters of indirect flirting and confessions, Hanako and Nene’s relationship has become canon. The two shared a sweet kiss and embraced each other, confessing how happy they were to reunite.
Even though their situation is pretty grim, this cute moment was a much-needed breather from all the life-threatening drama that’s going on.
Also, now that Nene knows about Aoi’s situation will she let her best friend die? Will Teru still try to exorcise Hanako? We’ll find out in the next chapter.
1. Chapter 87 Discussions and Predictions
Nene and Hanako’s reunion was sweet yet tragic. They finally kissed after making us wait for so long, but the wait was worth the payoff.
Nene also knows about Hanako’s plan to extend her life. He planned to take away years from Aoi’s life and give them to Nene, but this plan no longer seems plausible.
Team Teru is trying to rescue Aoi, and there’s no way Nene will want to sacrifice her best friend. It seems like the only way Nene and Hanako can be together is if Nene dies and the couple stays together in the world of supernaturals.
Also, Hanako accepted that he can’t have a normal life with Nene, so maybe he’ll still try to keep her alive.
I hope we can see things from Aoi’s perspective in the next chapter. So many events have happened, and we still don’t know how she feels about it all.
Maybe she’ll convince Teru to leave Hanako alone and instead make him focus on finding a way to keep both her and Nene alive.

5. Chapter 86 Recap
Nene pulls Hanako away from Teru’s attacks as the two escape from the train. They run away aimlessly, but Hanako stops and asks her where she’s taking him and why she was there in the first place.
He adds that if she had stayed back in the human world, it wouldn’t have mattered if Teru had exorcised him.
Nene slaps him and tearfully answers that she wanted to see the one she loves. She rants about her ordeals, telling Hanako how she couldn’t go to the boundaries and couldn’t leave the strange house.
She also obliviously ate a pizza with a dead body as a topping and overheard Teru’s plan to exorcise Hanako.
She cries about all the things she had been through just to get to him and asks him why the first thing out of his mouth is a complaint. Hanako reminds her of a wish she made. She wished to live for a hundred years in the human world. If Aoi is saved, she will have to die.
Nene grabs him by his collar and yells at him to stop. She says that he doesn’t have to grant her wish anymore. Tears well up in her eyes again, and she complains how Hanako always acts on his own.
She bursts into tears again and calls Hanako an idiot. Nene squeezes him into a tight hug and starts crying uncontrollably.
Looking at her in despair, Hanako apologizes to her sincerely. She states how he knew that even if he extended her life, she’d never agree to it since Aoi is her best friend.
He continues and tells her that he thought as long as she’s alive, her memories of him would eventually fade away. She’d resent him, but she’d still be alive. He just wants to make her happy.
Hanako’s tone becomes darker, and he tells Nene that he can’t grow up with her since he is dead and a murderer. He can’t stay by her side, but if there was a way to make her happy, then their meeting would mean something.
After hearing Hanako’s apology, Nene wonders if he likes her. He never confessed to her directly, but all the hints point towards him having feelings for her.
She takes the lead and comments on how she’s surprised that he’s doing so much for her. Hanako blankly answers that it is because she is his special assistant and looks cuter when she smiles.
He then sneaks up on her silently and embraces her from behind. The two finally share a kiss and express how glad they were to have met again.

Toilet-Bound Hanako-kun is a Japanese manga series by Iro Aida. It has been serialized in Square Enix’s shōnen manga magazine Monthly G Fantasy since 2014 and has been collected in twelve tankōbon volumes. The manga is licensed in North America by Yen Press.
