The official trailer for Halloween Kills was released earlier today, and amidst all the horrifying glimpses, it features a scene where the franchise’s infamous villain is unmasked.
Michael Myers has been a household name in the horror genre ever since the first movie came out in 1978 and will be returning in the upcoming twelfth film.
Universal released the first trailer on YouTube, which picks up from the aftermath of 2018’s Halloween and sees Michael escape Laurie’s burning house, where he was left to die, after a bunch of firefighters unknowingly come upon to douse the fire.
Myers brutally kills them, which soon leads to him being targeted by the entire town.
At the end of the trailer, when Allyson is close to being stabbed by Michael, he is unmasked by Karen in an effort to distract the vicious killer from slaying her daughter. Check out the trailer here:
Cast and crew of Halloween Kills have claimed the sequel will be intense, with the movie’s writer Scott Teems additionally saying,
It’s like the first one on steroids.
The trailer is an excellent example of proving their statements were not exaggerating how gory the sequel would be.
Within the two and half minute runtime of the footage, Michael massacres the firefighters, stabs a woman in the throat with a broken tube light, and kills a teenager among the many other victims.
However, it seems Laurie will not be facing her old foe alone, as following the previous movie’s events, her daughter and granddaughter will likely play an even more prominent role in taking Myers down together.
Even though many horror movies tend to make gore the primary element, Halloween Kills seems to mix the aspect well along with a good storyline.
The trailer also reveals that Michael’s trail of victims leads to his childhood home, which means the sequel will also elaborate on his backstory.
Although most of the sequels strayed from director John Carpenter’s original vision, David Gordon Green has been able to revive the franchise with his retcon series, and based on the trailer; it seems we’re in for another scary movie night this Halloween.
