3. New Character Design for Kageyama and Hinata and Others
Congratulations to the Haikyu!! fans! Our favourite rookies Kageyama and Hinata are getting upgrades. While the basic character designs are the same with regards to their jersey, many other changes reflect our characters’ growth. It seems like the unpolished diamonds have finally learned the basics of Volleyball down to every muscle in their body.
How do we know that? When you look properly, there are two apparent changes. The first is the most noticeable of all – their respective physiques. Both Tobio and Hinata have grown in terms of body stature and have bulked up. Kageyama looks much stronger and more solid due to his broadened shoulders. Hinata, on the other hand, has thickened his thigh muscles, which tells us that his jumps are going to be higher than ever. Second, the carefree and rounded eyes of Hinata look sharper and more determined. For Tobio, his eyes have changed from the ones of a cruel king to a calm and composed assassin ready to deliver what’s necessary. To sum up, the new character designs are enough to give you goosebumps.
Other Characters
Haikyu!! Season 4 released another promotional video recently. This one gave us a tonne of goosebumps with the tension and energy in the air! It also released additional cast members:
Yuto Uemura as ‘Motoya Kamori’
Kousuke Toriumi as ‘Kiyoomi Sakusa’
4. Trailer Breakdown and Storyline
Unfortunately, the trailer for Season 4 is just over a minute long and doesn’t reveal much. The trailer is nothing but a showcase of the new character designs and the recap of the previous seasons. In those 60 seconds, the TV anime efficiently reminds us of the journey of Karasuno High. Notably the last smash of Hinata Shoyo which penetrated Ushijima and the undefeated Shiratorizawa, paving their way to the national tournament.
With great anime getting the shittiest endings these days(what they did to Tokyo Ghoul and Fairy Tail is just unacceptable) fans were worried about the storyline. The storyline will start with their entrance to the Nationals of High School Volleyball and will continue from there. The good news is, considering the previous season’s intake from the manga; the manga is still 2.5 seasons ahead of anime. Yes, Karasuno is about to kick asses again!
5. It is not Haikyu!! (Rumour)
Haikyu!! Season 4 will supposedly start as a new anime series, but still a sequel to Haikyu!!. This means that the next season will not be titled ‘Haikyu!! Season 4.’ There are no other updates on the matter. This is something that took the fans, including us at Epic Dope by surprise. This is probably because the creators want Season 4 to be like nothing we have seen in Haikyu!! before.
6. Haikyu!! Manga into Final Arc
Recently, the manga went on a brief hiatus as the creator of the franchise, Haruichi Furudate, had to do some research for the upcoming story. This week a new chapter was released with some big revelations. Returning with the 48th issue of the magazine, titled “Challenger”, the series has set foot into its final arc.
7. Haikyu!! OVA Specials
Recently, the franchise of Haikyuu held a major celebration event. The franchise confirms that Haikyuu season 4 will be released in the winter of 2020, as well as the 2 OVA specials. The franchise is creating hype to maintain Haikyuu!! According to the official report, the ova special will feature Nekoma High School, Fukurodani Academy, Nohebi Academy, and Itachiyama Academy who will all fight for the open slots in the Nationals. 8. Haikyuu on Netflix
Recently, Netflix cut out a deal with the Haikyuu! franchise to stream the No.1 sports anime on the Netflix platform. Crunchyroll, Hulu and Amazon Prime will also be the streaming services you can find the show on.
9. Opening and Ending Theme Song
New details for the fourth season Haikyuu Over The Top were released regarding the opening and ending theme song. The opening song, titled “PHOENIX” will be performed by the Burnout Syndromes. They previously played both the opening and ending theme songs for the second and third season. Things will get spiced up with a new band for the ending song. Ending theme, “Kessen Spirit (Spirit of the Decisive Battle)” will be performed by the CHICO with Honeyworks.
10. Strongest and Most Skilled Haikyuu Players
With season 4 right around the corner, we created the list of the strongest Haikyuu players for the fans to enjoy in the meantime. Here’s the highlight:
The plot of Haikyuu Season 1-3
Haikyuu season 1 kicks off with the most obvious storyline for sports anime these days. An energetic and lively boy (Hinata Shoyou) in love with a sport (Volleyball) and filled with immense raw talent is deprived of the complexities of that sport due to the lack of proper training. He clashes with a cool ass guy(Kageyama Tobio) known as a prodigy of the sport since junior high. The pilot starts with Hinata and his rookie team playing Volleyball against the most obvious winner of the Junior High, Kageyama Tobio. Hinata Shoyou is small in stature and is the last choice for a sport like Volleyball, but for years he has developed his thigh and leg muscles and has a knack for jumping higher than the tallest athletes of his age. Tobio, aka ‘The King of Court’ is the guy blessed by the Volley-gods and seems to be the best setter ever!
Junior High finishes and the players prepare for the selection of Senior High Schools. The first day at Karasuno High School becomes difficult for Tobio and Hinata when Hinata, who decided to beat Kageyama in High School finds out that they both went to the same school. Karasuno High School is known as the ‘fallen champions’ or ‘flightless crows’ these days. Karasuno was once on the top of High School Volleyball, but over time the winners had to leave their pedestal. At Karasuno, the rookies join the volleyball team under the captaincy of Daichi Sawamura, the most reliable member of the team.
Even though they start with vast differences, it all changes when Hinata finds out the truth behind the title of Tobio. ‘King of the Court’ is a curse for Tobio, as he is known as a king who doesn’t care about anything but himself. As the story progresses, we realise that Kageyama had the will to defeat the opponent but what he lacked was a player who could catch his volley. Shoyou turned out to be just the guy. Even with their differences, their love for Volleyball and the will to get Karasuno on top was the same. The team reaches its full(latent) potential in the 8th episode when the libero Yu Nishinoya and the ace Azumane come back.
So started Karasuno’s journey to the top of High School Volley. After tasting multiple defeats and learning from their mistakes, Karasuno shined more than ever. Season 3 ended in the best way ever! With Hinata’s last jump Karasuno defeated the undefeated champions Shiratorizawa and the team proved that they are not ‘flightless crows’ but the ‘Ravens of Sky.’
