Guide to Dota 2 Crownfall Act III: The Frosts of Icewrack (and a cool mini-game)

Can you believe what 2024 is turning out to be? Dota 2 has a ‘street fighting’ style game! Who would have ever thought? Certainly, not us. The much-awaited Crownfall Act III: The Frosts of Icewrack was just released and everyone is all over it. Apart from the epic story continuation, it is the mini-game which is grabbing headlines. Don’t worry, we won’t shy away from any details.

Setup

Act III begins with Chen visiting a tiny village called Frostreach. Just so it happens, the Vengeful Spirit, her friends, and Tusk are cajoling in a tavern when the question of Kestrel’s current whereabouts pops up. Tusk reveals that Kestrel is away to protect villagers from a fierce dragon. Chen and Tusk then head out to find the flightless bird Kazurai.

Tokens

You know how it goes! Earn tokens by playing ranked and unranked public matches. If you win, you earn three tokens but if you lose, say goodbye to one. 

In The Frosts of Icewrack, some heroes even offer three tokens:

• Phoenix (Flame Token)
• Ancient Apparition (Frost)
• Bane (Void)
• Blood (Pudge)

There are nine encounters in Act III:

Mini-Game

Now, onto the mini-game! This is probably the coolest addition to Dota 2. 

There are five heroes to choose from– Marci, Bristleback, Tusk, Vengeful Spirit, and Dawnbreaker. After selecting your fighter, you will be matched against another character in this classic 2D ‘street fighting’ style game. Don’t be surprised if you are suddenly transported back to 2000. 

Act III also features a collector’s cache loot box containing unique popular cosmetics. Valve has also added new arcana slots for Juggernaut and Pudge. You can now equip an arcana item along with other sets.
