Grand Theft Auto 6 developer says that 60 FPS might be possible on the PS5

Ever since the release of Grand Theft Auto 6’s reveal trailer, players have been trying to get any grain of information about the launch date and the advanced graphics that will be present in the game.

On GTA Forums, user viceYcity revealed that Hailin Si, a senior material artist at Rockstar Games has said that GTA 6 is the “most impressive and advanced project” in the history of AAA titles. With most of the title’s assets completed, the team remains confident they can run GTA 6 at 60 FPS.

PlayStation 5 is known for its exceptional hardware that delivers quite a hefty performance even with the most demanding titles. For example, Spider-Man 2 has had a great run with the quick switches from fast travel to in-world traversal.

With the rumored PlayStation 5 Pro just around the corner, there is reason to believe this might be achievable despite other titles struggling to hit the 60fps mark.

The most recent example is Dragon’s Dogma 2 which fails to register a solid 30 FPS and suffers from CPU over-utilization, leading to a drop in frame rates. However, Rockstar is known for releasing optimized titles that do not suffer from such issues.

It must be kept in mind that the post on GTA Forums was subsequently deleted. This could either hint at the fact that Rockstar is making no promises, or they are trying to curb leaks and have probably fired Hailin Si for breach of NDA.

With little to no official information from Rockstar about the release date, speculation puts the release window as 2025. However, performance specifications will only be released once an alpha build is ready which seems a good few month away now.
