Dr. Atticus Lincoln was delivered a risky and possibly career-ending puzzle last week to solve, or rather operate, when veteran Sam came in with almost half the bones in his body broken. Despite “tank”-ing his last big operation and dealing with the anxious trauma that came with it, Link pulls through with Jo by his side throughout the ordeal.
In other news, Nick offhandedly points out the root cause of Lucas’ problems, and Simon & Jules grow closer. Taryn may get her job back at Grey Sloan, and Mika will stay on with a sumptuous grant to course her through. So, what’s next for Grey’s Anatomy?
1. Episode 18 Synopsis/Speculation
Richard and Teddy make an exciting announcement; Jules and Blue butt heads over Maxine’s care; Lucas helps an artist decide on a risky procedure; Jo and Mika tend to Sam; Simone faces a life-changing decision.
Richard and Teddy already introduced a stunning and refreshing change in the residency program last week. They might have an even better announcement waiting for the doctors and residents in next week’s episode, though I don’t know what that is now.
Link might have some competition for winning over Jo romantically. Despite his situation, Sam’s been flirting with her, and Jo even tells him she’s single. Link’s not happy about this development, but I bet Jo’s just doing that to tease him. Or is she?
Link’s not the only one facing an uncomfortable love conquest. After shooting down Blue, Jules indirectly confessed to Lucas about her feelings for him. And yet Max’s sudden drop into a much more dangerous problem and Blue keeping it a secret from Jules drives a wedge between them.
Could the I-hope-they-become-lovebirds overcome this bump? Not without butting heads over the new patient, that’s for sure!
Sam’s being kept under observation, and Jo and Mika look after him, so Link really might have to fight over the lovely doctor. In other news, Lucas might look at some added responsibilities in tracking down a runaway patient with Simone in the upcoming episode.
Also will Simone start having second thoughts about her marriage now that she’s sure Lucas still loves her? There’s so much drama left to unfold in next week’s “Ready to Run,” and I’m ready to gobble it all!

5. Episode 17 Recap
Though Mika feared she might be fired after Helm’s passionate defense, Teddy immediately conducted an emergency meeting to overview the residency program.
Taryn is asked to come back and work at Grey Sloan, and Mika receives a big grant to last her comfortably for the duration of her residency. Amelia apologizes to Mika, who she forgives, but Owen still wants Amelia to stew in her rash choices.
Nick hands Lucas a list of seemingly unending tasks, but Lucas’ unorganized attempt at doing so resulted in a patient having glycemic attack, which ended with Nick asking Lucas to re-up his ADHD medication. Later, when the doctor comes to apologize to the resident, Nick & Lucas bond over the disorder they both have.
Owen enlists Link to operate on veteran Sam, who has ninety-three broken bones. Lincoln’s anxiety around post-op complications after Tank’s sorrowful demise leads him to opt for multiple surgeries, but Owen overrides his opinion and suggests a 19-hour one-stop surgery.
Though Link’s panic threatens to overtake him, Jo calms him down and enlists other doctors’ help for it. And Sam pulls through while Jo and Link look after him together.
Meanwhile, Jules drops the bomb on Simone that she’s replaced Lucas as Simone’s Maid of Honor, and though the to-be-bride worries they might not know each other well enough for that, Jules proves her wrong. Simone then sits with Jules when the latter finds her friend in the emergency ward.
