While Gran Turimo 7’s stunning visuals paired with a plethora of features, impressive cars, and diverse customization options never fail to offer a gripping driving experience, it does not mean everything’s been rosy with the title.
A broken Update 1.07 for Gran Turismo 7 did more harm than good as it rendered racers unable to play the game for almost a day due to server maintenance. Given that one always needs to be online to dive into the title, fans’ couldn’t even access the single-player mode.
Microtransaction in GT7 has already been the subject of harsh criticism because of its expensive nature. Then, the addition of this interruption further agitated enthusiasts who wanted to spend their day immersed in an adrenaline-filled racing world.
Even though microtransactions still continue to be unpleasant, the other problem is resolved now, thanks to the arrival of a correctional update.
After a 30-hour outage, Gran Turismo 7 is now back online with the implementation of the functional Update 1.08. With this 354MB large patch installed, players will be able to access the game’s Career and multiplayer mode without facing server issues.
Kazunori Yamauchi, Polyphony Digital CEO, sincerely apologized for the issue through a blog post and blamed the problematic Update 1.07 due to which the game did not start properly “on product versions for the PS4 and PS5.”
This was a rare issue that was not seen during tests on the development hardware or the QA sessions prior to the release, but in order to prioritize the safety of the save data of the users, we decided to interrupt the release of the 1.07 update, and to make a 1.08 correctional update.

The faulty update also altered the currency system of Gran Turismo 7 by lowering the number of in-game credits that some races rewarded and made the unlocking of fine cars even more backbreaking than before.
Addressing the concerns of fans regarding the overbearing microtransactions, Yamauchi assured that the situation would resolve in the coming future through the implementation of additional content.
We will in time let you know the update plans for additional content, additional race events and additional features that will constructively resolve this. It pains me that I can’t explain the details regarding this at this moment, but we plan on continuing to revise GT7 so that as many players as possible can enjoy the game

While this certainly is good news for the newcomers, all those experts who put in a grind would be disappointed to know that all their hard work will go in vain if the upcoming features could make buying cars simpler.
