We’re approaching the official release of Gran Turismo 7 very quickly, and the team at Sony and Polyphony Digital is now ready to show more gameplay footage. The new look at the game shows some GT-Class cars hitting the asphalt at the iconic Daytona International Speedway.
The new video on the PlayStation YouTube channel gave us a lot of new Gran Turismo 7 gameplay on the Daytona International Speedway. In the video, we get a good look at the racing and environment of the venue’s infield road course, an amalgamation of the oval track known to host NASCAR events, and the infield circuit where the Rolex 24-Hour Endurance event is held. The footage has been captured on the PS5 and shows two laps around the track from different angles.
The first lap is exclusively in-car gameplay. We get a good idea of the sights and sounds we can expect when getting behind the wheel on this track during the twilight hours. We also get a good look at the impressive visuals and details of the inside of the car.
The rearview camera and steering wheel telemetry stand out the most as the modifications for these high-quality sports cars fall short in comparison to what fans know, regardless of whether they follow real-life racing games or not.
The most noticeable detail on the first lap in-car is the sounds of the vehicle going through the gears, the shaking and rumbles from hitting the curbs at some corners, and the screeching of the tires as they hit their limit at the backstretch of the chicane.
The second lap is a replay of the first but shows many different camera angles from around the track. We can see how the late afternoon sun amplifies the shadow effects from the focus car, and the entire field is thrown onto the nearby barriers. The sun’s glare from certain angles and corners on the car even looks true to a real-life race.
Using gameplay footage of the Daytona Road Course is not a random one; it is very purposeful. The track has returned after it was missing on Gran Turismo Sport and stays true to the promise of a mixture of real and fictional Gran Turismo tracks.
